Chaos Strikes Back for Windows & Linux
Just occured to me, has anyone considered merging the entire game into one? Perhaps making it so as soon as you kill lord chaos, you are then put into chaos strikes back with exactly the same party and items you had before (or maybe stripping them?) and the adventure continues seamlessly?
Maybe this is a bad idea but it's just a thought :)

Re: Chaos Strikes Back for Windows & Linux
DM contains 14 levels.
CSB contains 10 levels.
A dungeon can have up to 16 levels.
So technically, it is not possible to merge the two dungeons (and there are other reasons).

Lol, though in RTC now....THAT is possible.... : )
Was unable to (permenantly) kill off ian_scho (Haynuus), Ameena, oh_brother (Westian), money (Falkor), raixel (Petal) and Lord_Bones (Aurek) in the DM D&D game Time's Champions!
CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE WHO MADE THE GAME WHAT IT WAS - GREAT!

It doesn't have to be a merging as such, just load the second dungeon afterwards but retain the characters in memory.... or something....
hey, nevermind it was just a thought!

Re: Chaos Strikes Back for Windows & Linux
I think the suggestion is perfectly o.k. - after finishing your DM dungeon you could get an extra option of using the characters for CSB or maybe "storing" them somewhere for later conversion in a CSB game.
Actually, that would make nice new dungeon sequels possible for designers!
George, Paul, Sphenx - if you're out there - what do you think about this suggestion? It would mean no changing of the games themselves.

I agree, but in those versions where a finishing sequence is available, that should be shown before moving to the new dungeon.
The CSB dungeon is not designed for a fully armed party. Most items of CSB are quite uninteresting for a party that retains all treasures of DM. Although it might be fun once to cut through the CSB dungeon like that.

You could be stripped of all your equipment, although when playing Eye of the Beholder I found is most preferable to go into Eye of the Beholder 2 fully armed...
It's also likely your party won't be as powerful as the starting characters in CSB, I know mine were not because I've played DM so many times I can rush through and complete it with very little training, so the weapons and items might make up for the lack of high statistics and levels.

Re: Chaos Strikes Back for Windows & Linux
Agreed, finishing sequence and stripping of items (but leaving the character levels and abilities!) would be necessary.
Something completely different: Can anyone explain to me how the Stamina or Magic value can ever go past, say, 400 points without editing? Even with resurrected characters that's pretty much the end of it even if you have 3rd or 4th level masters with some characters...

Simon: I don't agree with one thing: My DM characters are usualy more powerful than the CSB characters, back in old days an Amiga, on MS-DOS-PC, or even in the latest build (V0.24) of RTC. Only in some early versions of RTC that was not possible to me.
PitD: See above what I replied to Simon: I never had any problems getting these values beyond 400. But maybe that's because I trick a bit: I don't save my party after a level increase if I'm not content with the increase of stats.

Re: Chaos Strikes Back for Windows & Linux
Maybe that explains it. I vaguely remember someone posting a formula in one thread how the increases vary, but I have no idea what is much and what is little - I never paid attention to that ;)
