DM/Atari install help please

Post by search53 »

I've got the STeem files installed, the TOS files, and the DM for ST files. All are extracted.

STeem seems to work fine. I have tried all four versions of the emulator. Three of them seem to be nothing more than "look at me" screens CLAIMING to be DM. I have used the FF button and held it down until the "demo" repeats (possibly a minute or more of FF).

The HD file seems to work - eventually. I created a hard drive, copied the three DM-HD files from B: (so it didn't BOOT this version) onto C:. I made sure the "boot from C:" was active, and made sure that A: was empty... and did a Cold Start. I got to the opening screen, click "Enter", and the doors open - and the system locks.

The very FIRST time I ran this version, I clicked on "Patches" and installed the "Corporation Megademo" patch. This seemed to work - I found myself inside the dungeon with the navigational arrows. I played for several hours, saving frequently. :)

And, I'd have to load frequently too. :D

Now, however, when I try to run it again I'm stuck at the opening screen. I've tried both "Enter" and "Resume" - no luck.

Can anyone please give me a hand? I'm not "sold" on this version of DM if there's a better, more reliable one.

Never mind... I was just too impatient. :) I went to make a pot of coffee, and when I came back it was ready and waiting.

Hey, I've waited 15 years or so to play this again - I think a little "over eagerness" is understandable, don't you? :)
