Chaos Strikes Back for Windows version 3.0 is available on the Clones page.
What's new in this version:
- Fixes 3 or 4 significant (but not really important) bugs
- A lot of changes to make it more compatible with the Macintosh compiler and operating system. (Yes, someone is currently porting the game to Macintosh!)
Notes:
- All files are perfectly backward and forward compatible.
- All known bugs have been fixed.

Re: Version 3.0 is out!
Hello, i just tried CSB4win 3.0 a few minutes, and I'm impressed!
You've done a huge job, congratulations a thank you, Paul!
Some minor bugs:
When in the prison, I pick first a character. I can see the matching green icon in the upper right corner. If i click on another mirror and leave without picking the character, a second, yellow icon appears nonetheless.
If a put my first and only character on the right, then when I pick a second character their icons are superposed.
Also, I have the impression that when characters are hurt, the damage shown on their portrait doesn't last long enough.

Thanks. The prison never concerned me much.
But I will look into these problems.

Re: Version 3.0 is out!
I think I have fixed the problem with the icons appearing for
characters after canceling their selection. Version 4 will be
released in a few weeks.
I selected Toadrot, resurected him, and immediately threw a
4-level fireball at his empty portrait. His health went from 250 to 25.
After 30 minutes of doing absolutely nothing his health rose to 143.
Is this about what happens to you? Does this seem wrong? Or is this
even what you are talking about? If you think there is a problem could
you be very explicit about how to observe it?

Re: Version 3.0 is out!
What I meant about the damage was this:
when you receive damage from any action, you can read the amount, in red, on the portrait of the corresponding character. But this information doesn't last long. Several times i couldn't even read it.
In DM, I remember no problem about reading it, I always had enough time. I need someone to confirm this (and to explain it better)
I have an AZERTY, so i tried to swap the keys in the config.txt,
I didn't manage... The mapping is always the same!
When you reincarnate a character, all his stats are reduced to 30-32...
I didn't remember such a handicap. Could anybody check it with the original CSB?

Re: Version 3.0 is out!
The handicap *IS* in the original CSB - this was to bring them more in line with the equivalent champions in DM and makes playing CSB much harder with reincarnated champions.

Re: Version 3.0 is out!
Thanks for the clarification about the damage display. I am not at
all surprised. The "Flash" code is not too clean. I will see what I can do.
The config.txt file contains the keystroke translations. Perhaps I can
add a mode that prints these as the game is played to aid in debugging.

Re: Version 3.0 is out!
My apologies to the clever people who created this game. The code
that flashes the damage to each character is not only clean, it is
straightforward and understandable. I made a very obvious omission in
the translation. Version 4 will have the fix. A week, perhaps. Unless
someone can find some other things that need fixing.
