4 problems

Post by Zyx »

1) I made a monsters check on a dungeon called "Enfers". As a result, it tells me "not implemented" in a messagebox, with no more precision.
I guess I'll have to send it to you to?

2) "Pit goes nowhere" should be followed by a carriage return.

3) Can't I add an item on stairs, even in expert mode, and why?

4) I couldn't edit a text, there is no "OK" button.

1) Yes, I cannot fix it remotely.
===================================
2) Pit goes nowhere need carriaage return.
I will fix.
====================================
Out to get more cards......
3) Item on stairs.
Hmmmm. I did it once. Must have broke it. I will see.
===================================
4) Could not edit a text.
That is strange. Let me look into it and get back to you.

And some more...

5) When editing an end game actuator, a message says there is nothing to change. You can then press OK or Cancel. Any difference between the 2 buttons?

6) When editing an open room, is it possible to drag and drop objects from a corner to another one ?

7) I noticed that a monster can't be carrying an actuator or a text...
I do not feel like starting a polemic about it right now. But once again, this is one of the coolest feature we discovered about the DM engine...

8) I started a blank dungeon, put some objects, and tried it with CSBwin92. When loading the dungeon, it gives the following error:

print line
saved game damaged!

With CSB951a, it still can't find the dungeon.

4) I cannot find a text-edit dialog that is missing
an 'OK' button. Can you help me?
=======================================
5) OK and Cancel

I suspect they are the same. The default is to have them
both (and it is difficult to get rid of them because internally
the 'close' box in the upper corner is the same as the
'Cancel' and a carriage-return is the same as 'OK'.)
But if they are the same I will get rid of the 'Cancel'.
==========================================
6) Drag object from one corner to another???

When we have 'Cut' and 'paste' then you can cut and
paste. I don't think I will ever do 'Drag'.

But an interesting aside....should 'Cut' cut the individual
item or the list that begins with that item?
A -> B -> C

Cut B

The clipboard gets B -> C?
or the clipboard gets just B?

I think that cutting just the single object is probably
more intuitive. Perhaps more useful, too.

Another thing....I probably shoud do 'Insert' (and 'Paste')
after the selected item instead of at the end of the list.
======================================
7) Monster carrying text ("Dragoth died here") or an
actuator (You just stepped on Dragoth's grave; take that! Boom!).
Sounds reasonable to me.

Seems like some limitations might be in order. I will
allow it and later I will fix the problems that arise.
Some problems will arise....perhaps you can tell me
what some of them are before the game crashes.
Should a worm carry a Champion Portrait?
==================================
8) CSBwin92? The current version is 9.5. I have sacrificed
backward compatibility on the Altar of Progress.

CSBwin951a? I have no recollection whatsoever of
the 9.51a release. It does not work for me either. I have
no idea why. I did not save the source code for it. So
we are up the proverbial creek. But we do have a paddle!!!
Version 9.51b is the paddle.

CSBwin92, 9.5 and CSBwin951a:
I downloaded CSBwin951b and I can finally test the dungeons made with CSBuild. I should be able to give a more accurate feedback now, and find many answers alone now about what does this? and does this thing work?...

9.51a had some major error which lead to the immediate release of 0.51b. Cannot remember exactly what it was. But I find 9.5 more reliable - 9.51b does in most cases not work for dungeons I tried...

Did you tell me that 9.51b has problems? If so, I have
forgotten. If you try the AntiMagicFire version (9.51c)
and it has problems....PLEASE let me know.

7) Champions portraits carried by worms

The only situation in PC DM (needs to be tested for newer CSB4win) is when, on a wall, you press a champion portrait without a valid text under the feet of theron/the party. There is no problem with dropped actuators I am aware of. (Or in other owrds the only way you could crash the engine is the have a worm killed when in a wall, then the character presses the portrait shown)

I've even had the engine create a strange character out of the grynum text, with huge health and small stamina! The engine experienced no crashes.
Champion texts have no crash effects, they are just long and pointless : )
Was unable to (permenantly) kill off ian_scho (Haynuus), Ameena, oh_brother (Westian), money (Falkor), raixel (Petal) and Lord_Bones (Aurek) in the DM D&D game Time's Champions!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE WHO MADE THE GAME WHAT IT WAS - GREAT!
