Firstly, thanks for the great work Paul!! and enjoy your vacation!

1. When putting a false wall on a false wall you get the message "You and only put a false wall in an empty cell"

2. False walls can be put in walls aswell as empty cells.

3. You can place monsters on the same square as the party's starting position.

4. Heres a cool bug, put some bones of character already in your party in a dungeon with an altar of vi, then kill a different character and ressurect the bones of the guy already in you party, you can end up with two characters of the same colour in the position of character box, but no actual chracter.

5. When creating the "bones party" item you can't choose which character you want them made for.

6. You can put chests in chests.

7. You can put items which are are to big to go in chests, eg Firestaff.

8. You can put monsters in monsters, maybe this is on purpose?

9. You can put up to 12 monsters on one square eg 12 dragons which fire 4 fireballs at the same time in a 2 by 2 pattern, very cool.

10. If one of the dragons is killed the rest become invisible, even cooler.

11. Whenever i move into a fireball, CSBWin crashes.

12. After you have created text in a blank cell and use the edit portrait and input stats and a name, when you walk on that square you get a garbled message.

13. Sometimes when you create monsters they are strange colours, eg dragons become yellow.

14. When you create text on a wall then edit portrait and change the stats ad name, the text on the wall becomes all garbled and some kind of cool hyroglyphics appear.

15. When writing texts and scrolls, symbols and lower case letters dissapear and don't show up.

16. It has been fixed in this version!

17. When you make a line of text too long in a scroll CSBuild gives the message "sorry message too long" but it still allows it and if you read it CSBWin crashes.

18. When you create too many lines in a scroll you get the message "sorry too many lines" but it still allows it and it looks a little odd in CSBWin.

19. When you create a scroll there are automatically 3 blank spaces.

20. When you put monsters in monsters the first monster is invisible the second isnt.

21. When you put monsters in monsters and you kill the first monster and walk onto the square the second monster doesnt appear, or maybe its invisible.

22. Can you make something indicating if a square has a random decoration on it?

23. You can put monsters on closed doors, they become invisible.

24. I can't make random floor or door decorations appear.

Hello Antman and welcome onboard!

2) I find it useful to be able to replace walls by false walls. I don't understand what you want to change. Anyway maybe Paul do. :-o

Same for 6) 7) and 8). These are cool features in my opinion.

5) Do you have the 788 version? I can choose any of the 4 characters's bones.

9) and 10) This sounds like a cool bug! Which version are you using? I can't reproduce with 785+ versions...

13) The palette: for each level, there are 1 or 2 colours that change according to the monsters present in the level. There is a priority int the colours, some monsters overiding the other monsters palette. So you can obtain yellow dragons, orange dragons, blue/green dragons for example.

11) and 20) These bugs don't happen to me (CSBwin96 and CSBuild788).

21) Did you check that the monsters are in the general monsters list of the level?

22) For now the only indication is when you edit the tile (right-click). Some checks indicate if there are or no random decorations.

23) It seems a random decoration has only a probability of appearing. A rough guess would be something like 10%-40%.

Some new comments:
25) If there is a pressure pad on the same tile than a door, it seems that sometimes the door becomes undestroyable.

26) About the lord grey moving/not moving. I discovered that the physics of ST DM and ST CSB (contained in the graphics.dat) set this monster as moving. So one can solve this issue by joining a special graphics.dat for dungeons designed with an immobile lord grey.

2. I was just beign over critical, the message say 'only empty cells', but they can be put on wall cells aswell.

6, 7, 8. I agree, I like these features aswell, so why did i mention them then?

5. Opps, youre right, i must not have actually created them, sorry

9, 10. This is what i did:
- Create a dragon in each section of a cell, eg top left, bottom left etc
- Four each of these, i created four dragons in the group, so there are now 12 dragons on that square
- Kill one dragon on a square, just punch one if they are on one health then the rest become invisible

I dont think they shoot more than 1 fireball anymore though, they used to when i mucked around with earlier versions.

13. I see, cool

11, 20. I was using version 9.5CSBWin i changed it to 9.5 they were fixed! I thought i was already using 9.6.......Now when i put a monster on the party's starting square it looks odd, eg a scorpion

21. Yes, it only happens if you move fast, straight away, after you have killed the first monster and walk onto the tile where it died before the second appears.

6, 7, 8. Yes, why did you mention them? Maybe because you like them? :-)

9 and 10. It is not possible to create several monsters on the same tile with the latest versions of CSBuild. But your idea looks very cool!

21. I see. And after that, If you keep moving, the 2nd monster still doesn't appear?

Someplace, someone reminded me about the Crack
Switch that jumps to the ceiling in DM when it is pushed
in. I hardly needed reminding. But I spent the day trying
to figure it out.

I am quite convinced that the Graphics.dat for Dungeon
Master that came with Winston (I think that is where I got
the graphics.dat) has this bug. Wall decoration #55 is placed
at location number 0 rather than location number 2. The
graphics.dat that came with CSB has it right. And both
files have wall decoration #50 (the crack switch (out))
at location number 2.

The graphic.dat files are compressed and a single bit cannot
be changed without destroying the entire remainder of the
file. So I am convinced that the error was in the original file
before it was compressed for release on the Atari.

So, unless someone has a great idea, or a way to decompress
the graphics file, fix one bit, and then recompress it......???
I guess it will have to stay that way. You could use the PC DM
graphics file by converting it. Someone had a program to
do the conversions.

A question regarding CSBuild. When I edit a dungeon (for example fixing clones) and save it, the "typical" size of the dungeon.dat (33.357 ?) is changed. Sometimes (for example, I tried this with Dm Alternative 1.051) the conversion does not work afterwards - only if I convert first and then fix the errors in the dungeon.dat. Do you know why (I know it's not your script for conversion, just curious).

I doubt that there are any programs in existence (other
than CSBuild and CSBwin) that can read the files written
by CSBuild or CSBwin. The format has been radically changed.

Why would you be surprised if the file size changes when
edit it. I must be missing something.

I was not sure if CSBwin needed a fixed file size to read a dungeon.dat. If not, my question is answered on that part. The converter script may expect a certain size and might therefore not work after applied changes - as long as I know I can do it the other way around. So that was all of the motivation for the question, really.
