Not "0/1" Character in Layout Section

Post by UNNAMED BONE »

It's invisible wall, but probably non-regular syntax.
May be used? or must not be used?

I recall (but would have to check) that you can use either 0 or 1 for a moveable or invisible wall in that section.

When designing this section of the format I thought it may be the source for potential confusion so the parser goes through and uses the wall type in the items section in preference to that given in the layout.

In short put whatever you feel "looks" best for you!

I think the point was if you don't use 1 or 0 in the layout, you get an invisible wall - so a map like this:

00000
0AAA0
091A0
09A90
00000

Would produce soemthing that is actually a 1x1 room, with a ring of invisible walls surrounding it so it looks like a 3 x 3 room

So is this a bug? Is it a bad bug, or is it useable if so?

To ask somehting based on what you said, does that mean if I place say a pillar in a wall, then would the engine draw a floor tile and override the wall described in the layout?

I think simply that it must not be use if it will be lost in future RTC...

Odd, but useful. I'd say keep it.

How odd - don't rely on it though; it's a bug and I'll remove it for the next version as it may lead to other problems.

That section of the text file should only contain 1s and 0s.
