Questions about Dosbox (DM2)

Hi there fellas,
I've been trying to run DM II under windows XP Pro and according to some posts on this forum, I need Dosbox to accomplish that. I would be grateful if someone could explain to me what Dosbox is and where can i get it

dosbox is a ms dos emulator
you can mount your old games as a drive and run them
