Thank Beowuuf. I will, then, return to ROS. There was a large area there not explored at all. That is, I did it four times failing each time whereby I found another path which led to the dragons and thence to DDD. I will go to ROS again searching both the false wall area and the other side of ROS which I missed in my save games.

It seems like I must go back to Ros - I didnt find any wee dragons, and I thought it was finished.

Any idea where I can pick up a skeleton key? I tried going back to where they are supposed to frequent before the munchers, but none appear - they must be exhausted.

I think the Skelly key is one that can drop off Thieves in a random location...the Lockpicks are meant to be as well but they always seem to drop for me off a Thief on the bottom level where the Ku Dragon roams.
If you think you're missing any areas you haven't explored, try the bash-your-brains-out technique to see if you've missed any walkthrough walls...especially if you come up a flight of stairs and find only a wall in your face at the top.

Also, bear in mind that 'mini' dragons don't look any different to the other dragons -- they are just weaker. In case you were looking for smaller ones or something...

And we mean weaker in hit points, before you stand infront of them trying to tickle their chins : )

The Saphire key opens the shop near the entrace stairs to the DDD. It offers free water and items in exchange for cash. Every odd gold coin will transport a valuable item into the alcove beside the coin slot. Every even gold coin will transport such a valuable into the hidden alcove nearby. If you insert a coin and don't get any treasure in any of them two alcoves, the shop is sold out. Do NOT insert more coins then, for you will get nothing in return, but save the coins, for they might ease your pain in the really hard-to-survive abode of Chaos, but you if you do not have enough cash up there, the effect is very much diminished.

The Skeleton keyholes just open up shortcuts, which is nice but not necessary. The Skeleton keyholes will not use up this unique key. Only the skeleton lock in Chaos abode will consume that key, for this and for some totally different but not unimportant reason I recommend to leave that one untouched.

The lockpicks can save a key on some specific doors, so it is not necessary too, but quite handy. Warning: There are a very few doors that can be opened by lockpicks, but will spring a trap too when opened with lockpicks instead of the proper key. There is a single and very well hidden door, that requires the use of lockpicks more than once (a VERY nice shortcut, not necessary again, but quite handy).

Welcome to the final installment of the journey of the Four Horsemen.

I went back to the junction to get the corbums I had left there. I then returned back to Neta stairs to the final level. I prepared every freeze life box I had. Activated first and ascended the stairs.

I found the Scepter of Lyf immediately. Nice, but pretty much moot by now. Carefully avoided the hidden pits. Stepped on a hexapad which didn't seem to do anything at all. And by chance found my way few steps later in the Demon Chamber!

Master key hole. On hunch that one of the demons might be carrying it, slaughtered them while they were frozen in time. Snatched the key and ventured further. Encountered Lord Chaos, who was very much unfrozen in time...

Few more steps placed me in front of the Ful Ya Pit... Rather anticlimatic :|

The End!

I know how Denise feels. It was one heck of a journey.. But now it's over again and I am sad that it is indeed over.

BUT! New journeys await... Playing Chaos Strikes Back again has given me new evil inspirations for my dungeon in progress, Madness of the Deceiver. Mwahahaaaahahahaaaa!

Thanks Toni.

The whole thing is going into the index. If I can figure
out how.

@Toni Y

I put your journal in the Games Index. You might want to
look it over to be sure I did not mess it up in some way that
you find objectionable.

Look in the CSB description

Went back and 'found' my coins - all 2 of them, on one of the Vi altars. All I got from the booths was a dragon steak and something really non specific which i cant even remember. I went all through Ros, couldnt find anywhere I missed, through the false walls headbanging and see through vision but couldnt find anything new. I may attempt Dain now, or gather the courage to go into DDD and follow advice and fighters charge stuff - its actually really psyching me out just the thought having to do this. It is not a nice feeling to feel so inadequate.

Congratulations Toni - thanks for the pictures, you seemed to cruise through the whole scenario. What level Masters did you achieve with your four horsemen?

Any hint on how to kill deth knights when there are no doors to jam on them, or pits to drop them through? I am having nightmares about these guys.

Thanks everyone.

Strength potions before hand, then as many health potions on standby as you can make, shield spell never hurts to up your armour, and fast damage attacks such as stab on diamond edge if you are walking backwards down a corridor, or cleave/berserk on diamond edge/executioner if you aren't in a tight spot.

Any freeze life effects you could also use, just so they can't do you lots of damage while you do it to them

Toni, i want to know the truth !

I assume he was experimenting in the dungeon increasing his levels but went back to an earlier save game to complete it. No biggie!

The truth is even simpler than that...

Pendant Feral, +1 wizard level. Which of course doesn't increase the wizard XP, hence Plague doesn't have the boosted level in the final screenshot. :)

As for the site, looking good Paul.

Denise - Unless you're stuck in a corridor, you can melée (as in hand-to-hand fight, not the attack option on a wep, 'cause that would be Melée ;)) them easily the same way you might do a Dragon or Stone Giant or some other nasty mob - you really only need a two-by-two area (though if fighting more than one Black Knight at once this may not work...and I hardly ever see them alone :(). Basically you just back away from them and take a step to the side, and when they step forward in front of you, smack 'em in the side before they turn. Then sidestep and turn again so they have to step forward again and then of course you twat 'em a few more times. In the end they will disappear in a nice big poof of grey smoke, and you can carry on your merry way :).
Of course, generally when it comes to Black Knights, I'll either use a door (if available) or leg it and leave that bit till later (if not) :D.

It is well worth it's time to thoroughly search the illusionary-wall dragon maze of Ros.

but to get to the illusionary walls in the dragon nest I have to get and kill the demons and figure out the puzzles and zoom to get there, plus the deth knights chasing me down a hallway...and actually, those deth nights are harder to kill than dragons - well for me anyway. Dragons are great with poison but the knights, nothing but fighting and I just cant seem to get the knack. I am still hunting for skellie keys but gigglers all seem to have vanished. Oh well, back to the magicians, deth nights, and that chest of gor coins somewhere down in Ku!

I can melee, but they are damn quick!

The illusory wall maze with the weaker dragons in ROS, is BEFORE you get to the DDD... so if you've not found it you can't have completed ROS yet.

I had an unexpected few hours today so I wandered into ROS again to see what I missed in the illusion wall area. I only found a gold key. Is there more to that area? I either covered it entirely, or am missing some basic aspect that doesn't seem to be coming into focus for me.

I'm guessing that somewhere near is the sapphire key, but for the life of me, I can't find where it may be.

I thought it was the Emerald Key that's in the maze...or maybe that's just me misremembering it...thought Sapphire was Neta or something...but I might be wrong, I haven't played it for months hehe :).

Oh, yeah, I do have sapphire after all. Anyway, I sure didn't find any key in that maze. So I take from your post that it's there if only I search some more. Right?

And of course be careful not to fall down any of the pits...or get eaten/flambéd if you've left any Dragons wandering around :).

ROS

Post by Denise »

Ros - I have wandered around this section til I almost starved to death - I found a corridor with some false walls but they led no where - again. I looked at the map and still I dont know how to get to the areas you tell.

I 'think' I finished KU. Quite a few laughs to be had there!!! Like snatching the Executioner - I got fried once = did the magicians, pressed the 2 red cross buttons, food running low, the food they yielded only kept my champions from dying of hunger another 5 minutes but I progressed to the medusa fountain, killed some more tough magicians, found the false wall next to the fountain, used the iron key and down the stairs, used the onyx key to open the room full of goodies - but no food - return up the stairs and find a chest full of gore  coins and a useless scroll and wham! munchers filled the passages but not before 2 deth knights loomed and trapped me down those stairs. Eventually, with food on yellow, I managed to despatch all upstairs to progress through the wall opening to find the Executioner guarded by frozen deths. Hmmmm, I snatched, I ran, the door went down, the knights chased me, I placed diamond edge on the ledge and the door opened, but food on red, couldnt run anymore and we died.

Oh well, having saved the game before all this drama, I went and got a few cases of worm rounds and went back. All was as before, despatched the magicians, and got through to the medusa fountain, went through the wall, used the iron key, all same as before, grabbed the chest and ran down the stairs. What???? there is the door but no keyhole!!!! I thought I was going absolutely bonkers!!! I opened the hint oracle which told me "you need an onyx key to open this door". Well, there just wasnt a keyhole to use this key. I threw it, I tried it where the keyhole should have been but nope - it doesnt exist. Am I going mad???

Anyhow, already knowing what I was missing, I opened the chest and found just a magnifier, the scroll, and the coins missing. I must be going completely mad!

Well, I guess I can live without the coins and solving the Executioner was pressing - I went upstairs, and who should be waiting for me??? Ahhh, yes, our friendly giggler, followed by 2 deth nights and about 50 (well, 6 actually) munchers, in that order! Talk about random placement here! I killed the giggler and yes!!! I have the skellie key at last. Despatched eventually the other crowds waiting, and went into the executioner room. Used one of their swords, used a green box, froze time, replaced the axe and ran as fast as i could through the dungeon, and up the stairs and finally via the spider, ant and scorpion levels, reached the sapphire room again. I returned for a quick look through and found several pairs of deth knights stalking through that level so I dont really want to return there anymore. They are virtually immortal!

So I guess I have finished KU - but Ros remains a mystery - I will have to go and kill worms, having finished steaks a long time ago, and Slide, you had a regeneration prob with worms - I wish I did. I have to actively seek out the regeneration buttons and pray for worms, except on the intial level. It seems like my supply has died out literally.

Having a prob clearing the demons and flambe units so I can return back to fighters charge? and explore there.

Have you noticed that our "post" numbers arent changing anymore - I have had '51' posts for several pages, and other contributors also have frozen 'posts. Is this a glitch,, will I stay a apprentice forever?

If the dragin in the basement is dead, then you have finished the first part of KU...everything else is fun bonuses

The door you cannot open, you need to open fro mthe other side only

The random placement usually happens when you hit the junction of ways the first time..so not sure why you found two different chests for this game!

denise and slide, you've started your games for such a long time, what levels has your team reached actually ?
i know that if you complete the game slower, your champions will have big stats at the end.
