door closes on 5

After taking the coward's path, I went too far and triggered the pressure plate which closed the door behind me. I need to get back there and find the vorpal blade. Any ideas how to get this door open?

it should reopen once you complete the teleporter/key puzzle and walk through the door beyond

Teleporter puzzle...are you referring to the "test your strength" puzzle or the door between 2 teleporter fields? I've passed through both those. In fact I've made it through to then end of the level (had to resurrect poor Boris) and returned to the beginning for Boris's things.
The door opens on one pressure plate, then closes with the triggering of the plate nearest the door. Door still closes in my face.

the coward's way continuation door should only close once, you should not be able to reclose the door
the teleporter puzzle was the two flashing teleeporters - once you advance to the square that leads onwards or to the test your strength area, then the door opens again

hmm, what version are you playing? csbwin, or RTC...because this sounds like a bug not present in the normal DM dungeon...

I'm playing RTC original version of DM.
As you pass through the second door along the coward's path,
there is a pressure plate right before the teleporter puzzle on the right.
This closes the door behind you. A few more steps down the hall, at the intersection to the "test your strength" puzzle, there is another pressure plate which teases you by opening the door.
Turn around and run for it, and the 1st plate is again triggered and your party is trapped. The map indicates this with arrows and I recall this from the original Amiga version as well.

OK then, for some reason the map in RTC is buggy - that first pad is a one-time pad, it closes the door once, then when you succeed in that puzzle the door is released, never to be closed again even if you step on the original pad

Hmm, move that one onto the bugs i guess!

What version of RTC do you have?

Weird -- I don't recall this being a problem in earlier RTCs, and it's very unlikely that George edited the map and broke it by removing something.

There was an early version where the door shut and never reopened, but that was aroudn the 0.17 stage, i think

Return To Chaos - V0.28 - 31 December 2003

I realized this problem is no big deal. It's easier to use either the "HAHAHA" teleporter or the stairs to go up then back down than to yell at the door for now opening:P

I have noticed another bug in this version. I spent some time in the screamer room with a party building stats. At one point, the saved game became corrupt and would no longer load:

RTC (V0.28) Diagnostic file - Tue Apr 27 18:50:29 2004

Error:
an access violation exception.

Stack Dump:
RTC.FoundSaveStore(string "Modules\\DM_Original.SV0", bool FALSE);
utilFile.FileSearch();
RTC.FindSaveFiles();
RTC.DoFrame(int 165);
RTC.WinMain();

This error has been sent to George along with my file and he is looking into it.
