Question about a door

Post by Viborg Cyborg »

I've always wondered about a certain door and whether it can be opened. If you are facing the firestaff, (before you pick it up), and do an 180 about face, it's that yellow door that would be a nice shortcut out of that area, instead of having to walk all the way around to get out. I doubt it's possible to open, but I wondered if anyone found something I've missed?

I think it's just there so you can stare at the staff and go 'how do i get to it' then only realise later you have to go roudn the looooooooooong way

Hello :)

Hmmm... As Beowuuf said there is no way to open this door (even in the Atari version you can't, it would be too easy ;)).
When you take the Firestaff, the door on the East or on the West opens (depending on which door you chose to open with the master key). And at the same time, the 2 stone golems are set free and the wall between them disappears...

Yeah, I definitely kill the two golems before I use the master key and pick up the firestaff. I was talking about opening the door opposite the firestaff after killing the golems and picking up the firestaff. I really didn't think there was much chance of getting that door open. I'm always on the lookout for things I've never found yet in this game. After playing for so many years, I doubt I'll find too many more.

one you might not reaslise - the 'put the gem back' puzzle
Usually everone grabs the chest, then goes upstairs, down the pit to get beyond the door.
However, if you 'put the gem back' ie throw the gem down the pit instead out of its chest, then go back downstairs normally, you find the door has opened!

Nice one beowuuf. Here's one I do: In the gas chamber room, I pick up the sword, (Diamond Edge, I think), and then immediately set it on the floor and back up out of the first gas cloud. After the gas has cleared, I go and pick up the sword and throw it out of the room, no further gas bombs go off.

yup, there are about three pads that detect if you possess the sword through that corridor! Always throw the damn thing and avoid some serious pain!

That was by far the best trap I've seen in any game to date.

I died several times trying to escape, before I realised you only die if you run, if you stand still and walk one square at a time (healing), you live! :)

You can save a few vital seconds by chopping the door open, this way it won't close when you pick the sword up like it is supposed to.
