GAME : light after waking up

Post by linflas »

i discovered that torch lifetime is quite low compared to original DM, especially when you sleep (of course i don't keep the torch in hand while sleeping). there's also a very low light level after you woke up. then the light goes up very slowly to its last level.
if i cast a big FUL or OH IR RA spell, i have a same low light level after waking up.

bug or (weird) feature ?

The fading up was a new feature in v0.27 I believe -- it's supposed to simulate how things look when you wake; i.e. the disorientation you feel and the getting accustomed to the light.

I find that it's one of those things that, while more realistic, adversely affects gameplay, and would favour it being removed or optional.

So that's the problem ! I just started playing RTC and was quite surprised by the lighting behaviour... Indeed, it would be nice to have a (much) faster fade or nothing at all...

For V0.30 I've changed this to be a configurable option (in the config.txt file) - by default it's now off (i.e. like the original DM)
