Mass mail problem

Messages are moved here (should anyone ever want to see them again) once they are no longer applicable to the current version (e.g. suggestions that have been implemented or bugs that have been fixed).

Mass mail problem

Post by cowsmanaut »

Hi George, I think untill someone smarter than me can figure out why we are sending out so many bogus emails and potentially emails to people who don't want to get emails from us (ie Info@cheskyhosting.cz) I think we should stick to just making a note here on the forums about updates.

Those people who are interested in RTC updates probably surf this forum on a regular basis anyway.

It's just the 58 "this adress does not exist" emails I get when ever one is sent out and the wondering of how many of those actually went through to people who never signed up with us. The fact that they own the webspace too.. well I don't really want to get on their bad sides.

I still don't understand why this never happened before we moved to this new server (shakes head)...

Anyway.. sorry to mess with your system.. but untill this is resolved I think it's wisest to just stick to a big post here on the forums.

A release thread with a new post including changelogs would be sufficient for me.

Yep, I agree, just a post here is sufficient and the changelog really is ESSENTIAL for those of us who are working with mechanics and not just playing.

I keep the Development History thread and the Download thread up to date as and when a new version comes out, but it would really be better if you could do that George as you know it better than us. You have full admin and editing rights in case you didn't realise.

i'll put it another way - i've missed the last three releases of RTC because the address i have for the board here is not my main one...i kinda put two and two together when threads started appearing saying fixed for 'v0.29' and 'v0.29 bug', missed v0.30 so was surprised about v0.31 being released!
i miss the posts saying 'here's the new RTC' : )
