cannot load *.RTC files

cannot load *.RTC files

Post by Commanche »

Hi,
i have the latest version of RTC (v.0.32)
i download some *.RTC files (for example Unidane.RTC, Chiefy.RTC, reactor.RTC) and copy them to .../Modules folder.

But when i run RTC, i see only original files (2xDM,CSB,ZOO and examples)

Can you help me pls?

Yes, these files were created under old versions of RTC - unfortunately until v1.0 this is still a work in progress, and so old dungeons run this risk of not playing on the newer version.

Hopefully once v1.0 is out, there may be some way to recover these files, until then you may be able to get hold of the version these dungeons were created for to enjoy them (i think reactor is ~ v0.24, cheify dungeon and unidane are v0.28...)

From people on the forums or George might have them too
If all else faisl i should have them, but hosting them might be a problem until i clear my filespace up, so i wouldn't get round to that for a few days - sorry!

Check out the dungeon files in the meantime and post which versiosn they refer to and hopefulyl someone can help you! If not I'll post up the appropriate versions.

I'd put a link to the main RTC site and about who does it or else you are likely to get hit with questions about the engine and when v0.33 is coming out!

Yeah. And George isn't too keen for older versions to remain available (would become a nightmare dealing with bugs reported in different version), so he might ask you to take them down at some point.

Fine to leave them up, but can you stick a suitably unsubtle notice to the effect that people should only report bugs if they can find them in the latest version!

On a wider note, over the weekend I finally sorted out many of the backwards compatibility issues which now means that V0.33 should be able to load and play dungeons from from V0.27 onwards (this therefore includes all of the above mentioned dungeons I think). and also should mean that any new dungeons should remain compatible with future releases....
