GAME: Brightness gets too big!

Post by Toni Helenius »

I practice my heroes with the light spell, unfortunately casting it increases the brightness with NO limits. And the brightness never drops to its original level. After few casts the screen is completely white, in other words: it can't be played anymore!

Otherwise, excellent clone!

This was discussed a little while ago, and this behaviour is intentional. However it should drop to normal level after a while?

it should probably be a configurable option like waking and step lighting...

Hi Toni. This behaviour is indeed intentional. Casting light spells will make it lighter; it is up to you to try and balance the light level so you can see properly. The light level will drop however (at the same speed as normal) - my guess is that you've made it so bright that the small drops in brightness cannot be seen. If you go to sleep for a while it will sort itself out.

Also in DM the darkness spell was completely useless - now it isn't!

Beowuuf - I had considered doing this as an option, but this would mean that dungeons with intentionally light levels (i.e. so you pretty much had to use the darkness spell to get anywhere) would be trivial if you just turned it off. That didn't seem "fair". I should however document this behaviour in the "differences from DM" bit of the HTML help!

Thanks for the answers. I've slept for ages! The original DM had much shorter time before the spell wore off (I think), at least when cast with the lowest power level. Well, I'll just have to practice with the darkness spell every once in a while!

But it would be great, if not too much trouble, to make it an option whether to use "original lightning" or "modern" =)
