New attack method: Darkness spell

Post by Pedro »

Hi,

Would be possible to add the darkness spell as a new attack method?

Erm - OK.

Just out of interest, any particular reason why?

Perhaps because it might make it more interesting (not to mention annoying hehe) when fighting a mob that could cast it...it keeps getting darker every time the mob hits you so you have to either continue fighting in the dark, run away and zap it from a distance, or keep casting light spells?

My intention is to create a spellcaster who will be able to casts darkness along with fireball or lightning. Because of that spell this guy won't be as easy to defeat as usual enemies and player will be forced to be more cunning to work out his own way to win the clash.

Yep - I like it.

I'll also add in any other relevant spells while I'm at it (e.g. Zo - not obviously useful for monsters, but might be an interesting attack method for a magical item in a dungeon where the zo rune is missing).

Nice to read this.

I've learned at dmweb that in original DM/CSB some monsters possess a special ability : "Can see in darkness" and others don't. I'm wondering if that feature is also relevant to the RTC creatures?

Erm no - monsters can see perfectly well in the dark; their vision is only limited by distance.

After all, they do live in a permanantly dark dungeon and were getting along perfectly well without light until some adventurers turned up ;-)

maybe they should be sensitive to light, after spending all that time in the darkness. ;D

They are - they get filled with rage from being disturbed by pesky adventurers and have a sudden desire to attack ;-)

Hmm, I can't find this spell on the attack method list.
Is something wrong with my eyes?
