I'm a 17 year-old named purple1 (a name that I began to use after stealing my friend's extra Starcraft Battle.net account named purple1) and I live in a town of 70,000 in California, USA! My family purchased a Macintosh Performa 6400 when we moved to California because we needed and upgrade (from an IBM 8088, 64k RAM, 10 MB hard drive). The Performa had a bundle pack of CDs, one being the awesome space shooter game Descent from Interplay. Included on this disk was a demo of Dungeon Master II. So I played it. And liked it. And couldn't find the game. But one day, at a strip mall, an old computer store had a copy on their lonely Mac shelf for $15. So my brother and I bought it and played it. Took a couple of years to beat. Now, I'm a small part of the Dungeon Master community at these boards.

I reckon I can't look a lot different from what people expect http://www.sholing.force9.co.uk/meonsofa.jpg
The pic is a bit of a giveaway as to why I'm a bit overweight (tried to blame it on age) - comfy sofa, remote controls, nuts and sweeties.
As for the Zyx and Zyxette photo - well after playing Conflux 2 I think this explains a lot
One question though (Zyx) - are you very tall or is your partner very short, or is it a bit of both? Can't really tell from the piccie.

Hello!
Hmmm... Wow... I'm a bit taller than my favourite dungeon designer... ^^
Well, Ok... that's not very interesting... Hmmm... not interesting at all (?)... Ok... I write on the paper : "Not interesting, they don't care if you are taller, but they like your T-Shirt", Really? Oh! Thank you then!
I'm 30 this year. And last year I was 29 (who could have guessed that?)
And the year before I was... Yes, 36! Ah ah! No, sorry, the good answer was 28!
I live in a small country called France... and in a small village called Nonancourt...
Hmmm... Dungeon Master is probably the very first game that really frightened me! I don't know how we first went through the level full of ghosts for example (my brother and I were both playing the game - he is older than me, ha ha, and I'm sure nothing can frighten him)!!! But I remember very well the time where we were lost in the level with the giant scorpions (AAAAaaaargh! Noooo!)! It was really awful (Aaaaaahh! Heeellllpppp!). We were lost in total darkness (!). I don't remember why... but I think it was because our sorcerer(s?) had no mana left, and we had no more torches, and... hum... we were not very experienced with this kind of game!! Hmmm... Don't repeat that : "Giant Scorpions are Frightening!!!" (Aaaaarrrrgh!). I jumped off my seat and fled many times during this period (Yes, I'm a real "Hero"! ^^). By the way, another surprise was the length of the game... We thought many times : "Hmmm... probably the last level..." and there was another level after (!).

Hey hey, my name is (not surprisingly) Lee and I'm from East London, England. Your resident cockney boy
. However, I'm currently in Laval, Quebec, Canada with my fiancee as she lives here. I'm 21 years old, I love football (I refuse to call it soccer!), West Ham own my soul... I also like a good beer, wrestling, cooking, oh, and playing Dungeon Master inspired games!
I first came about DM in about 1991 when I saw my Uncle play it on his Amiga. Soon after my Mum also got hooked on it and so I was able to watch her play it religously on our Amiga at home. I remember being scared to try it by myself (being young and all
) so I never wanted to venture further than the initial mummy! Besides, I was intrigued with watching Mum play anyway. And then she started on CSB but I'm not sure if she ever finished it or not.
So then I grew up, and did all the things normal teenagers do. But I never did forget about DM or CSB, so when I discovered the Internet and became obsessed (teehee) I soon found out how to once again play the classic games without the use of the Amiga. I still had/have the Amiga, and had also played and enjoyed DM2 before this, so that just gave me extra incentive.
I've tried to pass along the legacy of DM to the Mrs., but so far my efforts have landed on deaf ears lol but I won't give up yet.
I found Christophe's site a couple of years back and was fascinated that there was so much info about the series and a whole other group of people that loved the games too, everyone here has done a great job in contributing to this wonderful community
.

Arrr! sorry if this is OT (Out of Tune): I can't speak of myself niceboyly. I have to do it the way I design dungeons.
It would be best starting with who I'm not.
I, for instance, have no faith and very few convictions, which make life's decisions and death too important to be easily digested. Lucidity leads to confusion sometimes.
As long as I remember, I had a bad memory. Which doesn't mean anything, though.
The only data I'm quite certain is that I'm among 28, though I'm not certain that is an information about who I am.
I did a lot of tings I'm not doing anymore so it would be a lie to tell you. In fact my past is probably not relevant. But i'll try to say 2 or 3 things about it.
Sheer love and happiness I met; a survival horror game when they left.
Hmm, enough with my past. ^ ^
I'm still linked to DM because it complies with the high standarts of qualities I demand, and because designing dungeon is much simpler and less abstract than living.
And maybe because there is more fresh air underground than in any tile of our society, and it's more fun than this other game: playing survival job with a fake identity eight hours a day - currently not playing, though.
Right now beside dungeon-designing, and too seldomly playing table tennis, I'm trying to become a writer, wondering in the meanwhile about something we could summarize as "destiny and myself".
Current conclusion is that I'm unique, like everybody else.
I'm quite happy, strongly unhappy, often unsatisfied, and ridiculously easily satisfied (like with a good book in my hands, which are very few, but still too many for my lifespan - not my hands, the books).
Oh yeah, I like philosophy and paradoxes. I guess. You would say I'm skeptical; I wouldn't: that's probably wrong.
BTW, I'm a fan of Jerry Springer shows and I like irony.

@Lee - love the beard
. When I was 21 I had long hair like yours but I couldn't muster anything worth keeping in the face fuzz department. Now I can grow a full set no probs but it's got grey bits so no way José.
@All - As for the height stuff, well I didn't really want to start a "how tall are you" thread, though I will mention that I only just beat Beowuff at 5'8" (1m73) so Zyx's 1m87 (6'2") is tall in my book, and nerdily, the optimum height for maximising income (can't find it now, but I saw some stats on the internet correlating height and income which implied that being taller gives you an advantage, but being a "Peter Crouch" is as bad as being a "Dudley Moore").
@Zyx - your post is too deep for me to understand at the moment as I have just returned from the pub after *ahem* a few pints of lager - buurp!

Hi. My name is Toni Ylisirniö and I am a DM-holic... Erm, oh, wrong group. Sorry.
So, I'm 24 and a computer science student at Helsinki University of Technology, specifically studying content production and interactive digital media. Live here in Finland, Espoo and have been aquinted with DM for quite some time. Got it on my Amiga 500 sometime after 1990, don't recall exactly when. Found the old Unofficial Dungeon Master site and it's message board where I first met some of you lot. Those were some good times... Then came DMute and the result of that is in my sig.
Anyway. Here's a pic of me:

As you can see I have a beard and a crown. Oh, and my trusty scepter. Like one should when one is a king... No wait, that's not the right picture.
Ah. Here it is:

I`m 26 and I live in Poznań (Poland). I`m learning arabic language.
My hobbies are: playing some old classic games (DM, civ2, settlers etc.), listening to italo-dance music (Gigi, Prezioso, Eiffel) and watching british sitcoms with Rick Mayall
I noyiced, that many of You are from UK, so You should know what I`m talking about
My face You can see in the image on the left
well, that`s it of me.
DM is still, after all these years, my favourite game, wchich I first played on Amiga years ago (who remembers this antique computer now?). I`m working on my custom in DMJava, but don`t have a time to finish it now (session!). When i`ll finish it in Java, maybe i`ll translate it to CSbuild or RTC..? But I have lot of work to do yet..
When I found this site, I started to designe make my own dungeon in RTC, but about a year ago (it was 0.28 RTC version, I suppose). But it had many bugs (ex: turned off while testing without a raeson, without the log errors), so I sent it to George. Fortunatelly, now there`s 0.34 version, better and without these nasty errors (!), but... meanwhile I started to make a dungeon in DMjava, which I did a lot of work allready on this editor, so now I can`t return to RTC (DMjava have a different game structure, so I couldn`t just rewrite is easily to RTC), because there were many limitations, wchich I hardly tried to by-pass.

Hi, my real name is Henning, I am 26 for about one more month, live near Hamburg in northern Germany and definitely need to see an eye specialist for not noticing this thread so far.
I got an Amiga for Christmas 1990 and played DM shortly after. I was so amazed by the quality of the graphics and mouse interface. It was also one of the first games I played that was translated into German (not unimportant for a little 12-year-old). I was instantly hooked and beat both DM and CSB countless times. When I heard that DM2 was announced for the Sega Mega Drive, I was about to actually buy one, but didn't in the end. I picked up DM2 for my new PC in 1995 I think and beat it in about 3 days; after that, I never played it again, it just didn't have the same magic, atmosphere and feeling to it anymore. I picked up the PC version of DM years later on a flea market - I just couldn't resist. From then on, I always played DM once every few months or so. About two months ago, I had that feeling once again and wondered if I could find anything on the web. I simply tried "www.dungeon-master.com" and ended up here. I was really surprised to see such a large community here! And imagine my joy when I realized other people built their own dungeons...
When not playing DM or posting in these forums, I love watching movies, reading fantasy novels or playing any kind of games. I love pen&paper RPGs and currently play D&D once a week. Video and computer games are currently not very high on my priority list, but whenever a new Final Fantasy or Resident Evil comes along, the old passion rekindles. I am also somehow addicted to Magic: The Gathering and used to play in tournaments regularly, though I lost a bit of interest in the last few months. I also like to listen to music, especially Metallica, Pink Floyd, Rammstein and Queen, and no TV broadcast of any kind of sports is safe from me.
Currently, I am finishing my studies in mathematics and try to find a real job (something I am terribly afraid of). You could say I am quite a typical geek, full of quotes from Sci-Fi- and action movies, Simpsons episodes or The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
