Help re: Conflux II (Release 0.j)

Post by Lee »

[n00b mode]

Hi guys/gals,

I feel like an idiot posting this but there's no shame in wanting to play something that from the sounds of it is very good!

Ok so, I downloaded Conflux II Rel 0.j from the sticky thread containing the dungeon lists. I double-clicked CSBwin.exe as per usual, went to the sound menu and noticed I didn't have the option to 'Attempt to use Direct-X'. Unfortunately, I need that option to stop the sounds being delayed and distorted (most prolly an XP/soundcard prob), so I copied the latest version of the CSBuild in the Conflux directory instead and loaded the game with the Direct-X option enabled. Sound was fine :)

So it starts with an interesting twist and I haven't even taken a step! I'm excited about this. That was until I turned 90 degrees and encountered an error stating that the CSBgraphics.dat started badly, then proceeds to give me the info window saying about the 3 places it looks for it, and the picture that was supposed to be on the wall is now a grey window with the word 'Error' in it.

I'm assuming with my overabundance of knowledge (ha), that it isn't supposed to happen lol.

Any ideas on how I can fix this and be able to play?

Thanks in advance.

P.S... Couldn't find anything from searching the forums, either there's nothing or I'm just blind hehe. Sorry for being a nuisance (sp?).

The original post asked if you had the 'CSBGraphics.dat' in the
same directory as 'graphics.dat'. But, of course, you had no
such thing anywhere. A fact I discovered by downloading the
thing myself and trying it. Something I should have done BEFORE
opening my mouth.

Problem should be fixed for Lee now. Tomorrow I'll upload another package for version II.j to fix this problem anyway.
