Problem with Stamm is the total lack of mana at start, making the beginning tedious. You won't get mana until you find the wand at worm level. War crying a priest level is beyond tedious...

I have had quite a bit of success with ol' Stamm! I think he is the best character.

I love Stamm to as a one-player character. Yeah, I never bothered with magic until the worm level anyway...tend to find quick sleep to regain health/stamina is enough.

Absolutely, Priest and Fighter levels are gained from War Crying, with the chance to do so increased when standing in front of a monster. It doesn't take 2 minutes of it to get off to a Neophyte start at the beginning and works all the way through the dungeon :D

Oops, my mistake...
I didn't have regular DM dungeon ready, so I tested it with my current WIP dungeon. I warcried at empty air at lowest level (dragon level) for significant period of time. I gained 6 fighter levels, and when I checked with DMute I was only halfway to first priest level. I didn't realize that standing in front of a monster would change the relative exp distribution too, instead of just speeding the whole thing up.

I did a new test now with stock DM dungeon (PC DM), ran to the first screamer and screamed back at it. I gained one fighter level, and one priest level in 54 seconds and 42 cries.

[Edit: both with re-incarnated Stamm]

No mistake at all, no worries ;)

Thanks for the relative info too, interesting! When I said it won't take a minute I wasn't aware of the actual time lol, so that's cool. You were right though about it being tedious after a while, I'm one of those players that enjoys building up the characters from re-incarnation and I'll have some fun training, but standing there War Crying for 20mins to reach the next level when they're already Adept or Artisan is like you said, tedious :P

It definitately has it's place at the beginning though, an easy and efficient way to gain levels and mana points for people like Stamm.

Of course, the option to warcry can be edited in new dungeons. Or at least made harder to use. In the original DM, level four (worms) is a good place to level up, if you are that way inclined, due to the level exp multiplier being fairly high.

Trying to gain levels in the HoC might take a while! I'd at least wait til you get to that 1st screamer. Poor screamer. Every bugger that plays Dm just screams at him. WELL NOW YOU KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE, YOU GREEN SLIMEBALLS!

Right, where's my medication?

Just let his loving smile wash over you and protect you : )

Advice, same as with all solo adventures - stick your character in the back row when you encoutner spell slingers for dodging, try to punch critters like screamers and rocks to boost your health up early, keep rats legs and bread, eat/dump anythign else for food, don't armour up too early.
And there is no point in keepign projectile weapons : )

lol, for some reason i like to keep the dungeon clean of anything, if i have to , id take everything with me, to make a small base of some sort, just the problem is when youre solo, takes a long time

Ku-potions and lots of chests... ;)

As a bonus, you hit harder too, so you can save more mana for those lovely Ku-potions... :P

blah, im playing both CSB and DM right now

ven is going pretty well, and hes only just been reincarnated, has a bit of time with the starting worms then headed over to ROS, teasing the mummies behind the wall which can be opened by taking the torch from the sconce.

hissssa isnt doing too bad either, and hes still on the first dungeon floor, close to the second floor though i think

ive made a couple of screenshots, and yes, theyre of the solo kind, take a peek :), just do not ask why theyre both naked o.o;
