I am willing to peek into this problem. But you havekeeps on saying illegal operation.
to help.
You need to provide me with a recording that demonstrates
the problem. This is easy to do. Start the program. At the
prison doors click on the menu 'Misc/Record' so that there
is a check mark by the word 'Record'. Load and play the game until
the crash occurs. In your folder you will find a 'Record000.log'
The number is incremented for each recording. Send me the
savedgame that you loaded and the recording.

Ok, I have started to record it, never published it though! Actually, I have it recorded. I should record a few! Then you can reduce reasons!
Will Do, later. What a great idea, what a great idea, what a great idea!!!! What a great idea! What a great idea! What a great idea! What a great idea! What a great idea! What a great idea! What a great idea! What a great idea! What a great idea! What a great idea!

Actually that didn't help at all. You need to read the whole line, in my case it goes Version9.8v16. The important bit is the one you omitted : v16 (That's for me... The latest version is 9.8v52, unless it has already changed). If you've downloaded the version from the DMCSB Encyclopeadia, chances are it's obsolete. I think I had the exact same problem as you (system crash when facing Chaos), and it was corrected when I updated to the latest CSBWin.exe version.ADDF_Toxic wrote:It's v 9.8. Maybe that will help.
Make sure you always have the latest version (and make sure you know how to check the version number). See this thread : http://www.dungeon-master.com/forum/vie ... hp?t=23210

I gather that I don't need to fix this problem. That's nice.
This version business is bad business. CSBwin is so dynamic
that there is absolutely no way I can advise a person as to
which version to use. I could keep several branches of the
program active but that sort of organization would require
more effort than I can spare. I am VERY busy throwing new
code into the program. And all this new code is likely to
introduce more bugs than have been fixed in the later versions.
Everything comes with a pricetag. Even progress. I guess
I would like people to use a relatively recent version and
report any problems quickly. There may be some among you
who are not so adventurous who would be better off playing
an official version.
One caveat. I keep the source only for the 'official' version
on dmweb (9.8 right now) and for the current active version.
So those are the only two versions I can accept and fix
bug reports. Intermediate versions are in a kind of limbo.

Bugs reports are always welcome.
I think we decided that the subject of this thread
( Crash when Fluxcaging ) has been fixed in recent
versions. Previous posts in this thread seem to say so.
But......as I said, I only have the source for the most
recent version and for version 9.8. It is commonly hard
to debug problems with intermediate versions because
I cannot generally playback the recordings with either
the latest version or 9.8.
So it would make matters much easier for me if you can
reproduce any problem with the latest version (first choice)
or version 9.8 ( a distant second choice ). If this is not
possible for some reason or other, then send what you have.
Sometimes it is sufficient.
Version 9.8V53PAF13 is in
http://dianneandpaul.net/CSBwin/NewGraphicEngine.zip
I think it is quite stable. Zyx has done a lot of testing
and has not found problems except with advanced features
used by ConfluxII.

Paul, you mean there actually WAS a version 9.8, without a "secondary version number" (as in 9.8v53) ? Earliest I ever played 9.8v9, from the CSBWin package found on the DMSCB Encyclopaedia. 9.8v9 does perform an illegal op facing Chaos, but it was corrected shortly after (9.8v16 doesn't have the issue, can't speak for any previous ones).

I just went to dmweb.free.fr and found the
link to:
http://dmweb.free.fr/CSBForWindowsLinux.htm
There I downloaded the package and it
was version 9.8. It probably should be
replaced but I have no time between massive
updates to try and assure a stable new version.
9.8 seems good except for the Fusion problem.
9.8v29 is the earliest one on my site.
