Ultra Rare 1st Edition Dungeon Master on eBay!

Post by Gambit37 »

I just spotted this on eBay, some chap in America is selling an original First Edition Dungeon Master, the one with the flap and the different screenshots. Only 13 hours to go though...

Hi Gambit37,

Thanks for the info !
I have saw the item you list, but I would be very pleased to know how you noticed it's the 1st edition ?
There is no screen shown ?

The Yellow FTL star at the bottom gives it away -- only the first editions had yellow, all the other are white.

Good luck -- perhaps it will be a nice Christmas present!? I already have one of these, so I won't be bidding, which means you have a good chance of winning! :)

Merci !

To continue with the box of this 1st edition : I have asked to the seller to send me a scan of the back, but at this time I have no answer :-(

The yellow coloured "FTL" on the front face is the only difference ?
I'm a little anxious to make an error !

Thanks to Gambit37 for the info :-)

A bientôt!
Regards
Daniel

No, there are other differences - the box has a fold out flap on the front which tne manual slips into. Also, it is deeper than the other boxes by several millimeters.

If you have a copy of Dungeon Master in the usual box, compare the two -- you will see that the spine of the one on eBay is much bigger.

Seriously I'm really sad to fail this auction, because I really want to try this version ....
I'll wait till you release some screenhots on DMCodex ?

The good info is that were are still some fan of DM to pay such a price !!

Thanks again Gambit37 !

The actual game itself is the same as the one you already know, other than the fact that it has some bugs and not all the later 'internal' fetaures. The problem was that FTL had sent the box for printing, but they then changed a lot of the game. So the pictures on the box don't reflect the game!

This means that there won't be any screenshots of this version on DMCodex, as it's not really any different. Sorry to disappoint you!

Little deception :-(
I thought that the game was as shown on the box.

However I'll check on Ebay to another one
Who knows !

About DM Codex : have you time for continue it ?
It seems that you have a lot of great infos to tell us

Well, after not doing anything on it for most of this year due to personal issues, I intend to start work on it again in the New Year.

This time, I'm not quoting any deadlines for the first version -- you'll just have to wait and see! ;-)

At the risk of repeating myself, here's another first edition on eBay -- this one looks in quite good condition.

Bearing in mind only 1000 of these were made, if you're a fan you'd certainly appreciate owning this.
