*bump*

Hey Andy, hope you´re gonna find the file.

It would be quite nice to have that guide ... since I´ve got some presumably stupid questions about the editor, which I will post here otherwise. ;)

Don't worry, I've asked plenty of stupid questions about it myself...since I've somehow managed to bugger up in some way every dungeon I've started making so far (apart from the one I'm doing atm).

Doh! I still havent had a chance, however, I am going to be home tonight and I am RIGHT NOW putting a reminder on my phone to do it when I get there.

Thinking about it, I fired up my machine last night and did some work on some DM related bits and pieces and completley forgot to look up the file.

Dammnit!

Andy

Found it, uploaded it to my website, feel free to grab a copy and post it here as I might not keep that there forever.

Hope it helps people.

Thanks

Update to the editing guide thanks to Ameena. Spelling and punctuation has all been updated and some sections added where I had "Answers on a postcard please"

Ameena: you didnt put yourself on the credits list, so I did, if you want a different name there then please let me know on PM.

Thanks,
Andy

Still bad links

Post by Chaos Awakes »

It still says the requested website can't be found when I click the links on the first post.
It's not that the page doesn't exist, it's that the entire web server can't be found.

Yes, my email on my profile is correct. If you could email it that would be great - it still says it cannot find the file.

Any chance it could be e-mailed to me too? Both documents if possible. Both links still do not work.

Editing RTC isnt really that difficult using trial and error and the sugggestions/questions asked below. I picked it up in a few days (granted im still learning)

For examples of triggers etc look at DM_Original.txt in the editor and look at the traps and triggers in that map.

Its given me some great ideas. I also created a new mini dungeon where i test new ideas (to me) that ive come up with to see if they work or not.

I manged to get a magical lift into one of my now abandoned maps using a lot of triggers set on delays, the blue haze, a fake pit, the pit celing, some text and a teleporter that makes no noise so you cant go back and one that teleports you to new square when you reach the bottom of the shaft :)

pm me your e-mail address and I'll send you the ltest one I have - but yes, looking at the examples is probably much better, and also this editor was done before RTC editor took off, i believe, so you can find that lots you wouldn't edit with the text file now anyway : )

Ah yes, you're both right and that IS how I learned the majority of what I knew when I was playing around with it last year... trial and error worked very well in fact. I just opened up my test dungeon and it got me in the mood to do more with it even! But I want to wait for V0.35 to further implement my ideas.

Anyway, I wanted the guide (again; I had it on my comp in England) just for referencing and for anything that I might not pick up through trial and error.

Thanks Beo, PM'ing now :).
