I can't trace the reason for this, but I guess it must be a bug.
In my dungeon, I have a new monster type which was cloned from a giggler. There are monster generators all over level 1 for this new monster type, and the game starts with several of them just wandering around.
Often, when I start play testing the game, there are gigglers wandering around instead of the new monster type that was cloned from a giggler. Since the only actual gigglers on the level are miles away and closed off behind a wall so they can't move at the start of the game, there should be no way that any gigglers can be wandering about.

I'm trying to trace anything silly that might be causing it at the moment. The dungeon is ridiculously complex - 14 levels so far with all the DM2 graphics and monsters and animations and more puzzles than you can shake a stick at. It's just possible that there is a rogue teleporter on a lower level "beaming" Mr Giggler in at the start of the game.
I think it's some sort of bug, but I wouldn't want to think of you poring over the text file only to find there is nothing wrong.
