Can some one provide me with some sunglasses?

Messages are moved here (should anyone ever want to see them again) once they are no longer applicable to the current version (e.g. suggestions that have been implemented or bugs that have been fixed).

Can some one provide me with some sunglasses?

Post by The Dark Sage »

Hi.

I've just started using rtc v.34 and noticed that the in game light level can be increased untill everything is white. Was this intentional or a bug because i for one am not keen on the appearance it produces.

No it's deliberate...it's only in RTC-DM, not DM-Original. If you keep casting light spells, it gets TOO light. Would probably annoy me too but I dunno if you can turn it off. RTC has several other little quirks that have been added (Spellbook etc).

It's not restricted to dungeon type -- it's an engine modification, so it'll happen in all dungeons.

I quite like the effect, but it would be a lot better if it used some kind of procedural blend to make it look more convincing -- just changing the opacity of a white mask makes everything look like it's painted over in a wash of emulsion, not blinded by white light.

The problem with the RTC model is that it allows you to make out full detail even in very bright or very dark situations. A procedural light model would make this better in my opinion (if not entirely realistic). Here's an example:

Of course, this is just a flat mask. You could do clever things with radial gradients and colour tinted masks...

Yep - what you suggested. No idea how you made the right hand screen shots, but RTC now looks pretty similar...
