The sound is paused when entering mirrors. Cancelling (or confirming) back out restarts any playing sounds back from the beginning -- not a massive issue on ambient loops but a big problem for music.

Fixed for V0.36

[Also fixed are a bunch of related problems, for example restarting sound in the wrong place after loading a saved game.]
