Nasty one this - if a party member dies whilst viewing their inventory (by feeding them something that kills them for example), they automatically drop everything they are carrying but their inventory stays open. Whatever is placed in this inventory whilst it is open, I think a max of 7 items (the 6 hands of the remaining party members and whetever is in the mouse), stays there when the inventory is closed. Seen as the party memeber is dead, then the inventory cannot be accessed and therefore the items cannot be retrieved until the party member is revived. I'm not sure but I think in DM and CSB that when a party member died, their inventory immediately closed to avoid this behaviour. Maybe this could be a suitable solution?
I know it's a bit of an abstract bug and you're daft for putting stuff in a dead party member's inventory but you can guarantee that some fool will do it sooner or later
