[Fixed for V0.38] War Cry works not always...

Post by KlausM »

Hi!

I have not found this bug in this forum yet, so I report it.

When I play RTC version 0.37 (independently which dungeon I play) , sometimes I realize that the WarCry-Sound is missing, and when that Sound is not playing, the WarCry has no function.

This bug appears and disappears while playing, but I don't know when.
I seems to be randomly.

At the last version I used before (v0.34) it works and there was no bug.
I determine that this bug only comes up with warcry.

I hope you can understand my bad english :-)

cu, Klaus

This is a new feature -- attacks only make a sound when they are successful.

However, in the case of War Cry this is a bit silly -- really, the sound should always play. This is probably also true of the horn of fear if it's a generic change.

George, can you improve this?

I just tried, and yes, the same is true for the horn of fear. Tactically it is useful to know when instilling fear is successful, but from a role-playing point of few I also really don't like it.

Lol, I shudder to suggest the ability to allocate two noises to items incase of success and failure

I know what you mean, but that would be nice wouldn't it?

Fixed the bug for V0.38...

...and added the ability to specify an alternate failure sound for any attack method (the fix being to specify the same sound for success and fail for war cry / horn and a null sound for failure for everything else).

So, can we have a cool new sound for a successful fear instilling in RTC mode and retain the old sound for an unsuccessful fear attempt in RTC mode and successful as well as unsuccessful fear instilling in O_DM mode?

Of course I could change that in the dungeon file myself, but then again I'm getting out of touch with the gHoF.

Well, if you replace the word "mode" with "dungeon" then yes.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what you mean!

Ah well, ok, I'll say "dungeon" from now on. I think I probably retained the word "mode" from my earliest contact with RTC when I was not yet interested in what is managed by the RTC.exe, the config.txt or the dungeon.txt.

But you are right of course, it's the dungeon.txt files I meant.

I think this would be a case of DIY, and if your sound is cool enough then get geroge to include it in the 0.38 RTC version of DM
