[Done for V0.38] Are monsters a little bit too aggressive?

Post by Big-J-Q »

It's a fine thing that monsters attack the party as soon as they see it, but are the nasties a bit overclocked right now? They shoot at player even when they don't see it! I mean, behind the walls, where there's no hope of hitting the player.

Otherwise I wouldn't mind that (sound of spells being cast in a distance is...gloomy, which IS a good thing), but sometimes the monsters get so pissed, that they kill each other!

For example, I was playing the beholders level. Having played with Dmute a little bit, I knew that there was supposed to be 4 beholders (in separate groups) in closed room, but when I got there, only one was alive!

That is, of course, minor problem since it actually helps the player (except that no experience points are gained), but think of a trap that's based on monsters who can shoot eg. fireballs.

Monster awareness and spellcasting range can be done with toning down. Playing on a 10 in the previous version meant all the starting level 4 critters poured steadily at me to start with..challenging, yes, but then that left the start of the levl empty after.
And as you say, spellcasters killing each other way befroe you meet them makes some areas a bit too easy.
Was unable to (permenantly) kill off ian_scho (Haynuus), Ameena, oh_brother (Westian), money (Falkor), raixel (Petal) and Lord_Bones (Aurek) in the DM D&D game Time's Champions!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE WHO MADE THE GAME WHAT IT WAS - GREAT!
