well, I think someone made a version of the store in DMII with dmute. So it's close to possible to make a sort of NPC right now. I think though it might be nice if we could be sure everything was possible to do. the store sort of deal is one thing but to get real NPC interaction.

You can fireball or hit the store keeper and it will press it's security button and never come back out. It can count money. It can make change. Etc etc.

something to think about.

I think I saw the post there a looong while ago on Christophe's forum. I just remember thinking, that's cool I wonder how he got away with that.

I remember something about coinslots and teleporters and alcoves.

I imagine something like showing the item across a pit then when you pay it gots sent to the alcove. Also I imagine a button was placed there to change the items across the pit so you could select from various items cycling through.

lol, umm...might it have been my shop with the coins and teleporters and alcoves? It was (still is!) part of the team dungeon though, never touched Christophe's site
Items were in teleporter protected alcoves. You could pay to upgrade in which case the item cycled, and pay something different to get at the alcove, effectively buying the item

The only other shop i know of was Ian's in one of his test dungeons - it was some form of room, and you paid to get in, and you stepped into teleporters to buy the item, and would find yourself outside with the items. Simple and very cool.

well, it could have been yours. However I'm sure I saw the post on christophe's forum as when I think about it.. various greys come to mind which is the colour scheme of his forums.

Keep in mind that from what I remember, was someone was asking about functionality of Dmute to do things and then somone mentioned about making a shop like in DMII or for DMII based dungeon for PC DM.

this was about 1-2 years ago so I can't remember all the details of the post.

ah, ok - yeah, i rememeber there being that shop discussion
I was just excited as i thought someone had managed to squeeze the the DM engine a bit more to fake some NPC shopkeeping...some of the recent dungeons i haven't played throuigh too much...

By properly, I guess, you mean you no longer have to use every dirty trick in the book? ;)

(But it was FUN to do it that way!)

I shudder to think what you'll be able to come up with by abusing the new mechanics...

Lol, indeed, with Sophia the line between engine expanions and dungeon mechanics is blurring.
