Woot! Creatures! Yay! :D
Does it have to be a species already known (ie one used in other stories like those you've mentioned above) or can we make something up?

OK, another one from our weird and wonderful world. It could have been mythical, most people think these have been invented!

anything you like as long as it's either been a picture taken by you, modified heavily by you, or painted/drawn/sculpted by you..

actually I'm pretty sure it was less.. closer to 30 mins.. maybe 40.. I've seen better done by others in 10 mins.. full paintings even.. so.. it's all a matter of how often you do this kind of thing.

can't see much, it's very small? Could you post a JPG of the larger version? (BMPs are uncompressed and take ages to download)

unfortunately, there is no larger version !

I will upload a quadrupled version(320x320pixels), asap.

Colouring with mspaint is no fun and too time consuming!

Cheers!
The only problem is that I am atm cleaning up my 'ordinateur' because I change computers back to my roommate!
(I gave him mine to play 3d shooters, now he doesn't play 3d shooters anymore, and I want to play Oblivion, so we switch back)
So I cannot install it right now..unfortunately

(I know gimp, liked it on linux until it crashed and I kept forgetting my rootpasswords;Gimp seems to be more stable under linux, but then again, it crashed on linux , think was not gimp's fault, though and on windows it doesn't seem to run so well. But that could be my wrecked and screwed windows partion-I am glad that it will be gone soon!!)

sounds good. Kind of an Artifact then?

(With a bit of text in addition, for describing what it is supposed to do? Like in the monster Pic of Ameena, where she had some lines pointing on monster parts. Same for the weapon of doom....)

lol, I was thinking about doom as well...Although it had been the double shotgun ;)
So strictly fantasy or can it be future/real style, too?

Ohh those little rhyme thingys...well I did one for my "spooky place" pic so I thought I might as well continue by adding little rhymes to future pics too ;).

I think they are great additives. Picture kind of feels more alive, with more depth- if it is not overladen ! Actually I always write something to the things I draw.. sometimes I just write and do not draw at all! Really mad if you look at it..especially if it is hard to decipher afterwards. But it is ok :)

So continue with those rhymes!

Oooh, that's lovely -- reminds me of my youth... (fighting fantasy gamebooks!) Great expression, and amazing what you can do with simple shading. reminds me of a Da Vinci sketch...

nice :)

you know.. people have often reffered to some of my dragons as not being real dragons because they are missing certain elements that THEY think should be there.. the simple response is.. "Have you ever seen one in person?"

same for your guy.. maybe some manticores don't have wings.. sub breed Manticoris nonflightis :D
