Hi all,
New here (as my post count shows
) so if this is a stupid question i apologise in advance.
When using the editor that comes with RTC (outstanding piece of software btw GG) i was trying to use "add random monsters" to a couple of levels, the verify layout reports no errors, i added the compile line to config.txt and ran the game which said RTC file created, but when i enter the dungeon the random monsters are not there.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
James

Hi....and welcome!
I would be very surprised if this is a bug in RTC itself because once the monsters are generated by the editor they are identical to any other monster added by hand - if they weren't working correctly, there'd be a really big bug
That means that there's probably something going wrong with the editor. Can you please confirm, that when you look in the editor at your dungeon that the monsters are there?

Interesting - can you please email me the txt file and I'll take a look at it for you and see if I can spot the problem.

Well, your dungeon works for me perfectly! Both new monsters are exactly where they are meant to be...
What I therefore suspect is happening is that you're playing the wrong dungeon (i.e. you're compiling the dungeon that hasn't had the monsters added to it, whilst the dungeon you've modified is sitting idly on your hard disk).
Can you check your config.txt file and check that you're compiling the right txt file...

I did that myself the first time I tried compiling a game.
I copied/pasted the "COMPILE[TAB]Modules\New\MyDungeon.txt" and forgot to edit the line to point to my own file.
These mistakes happen.

Can you send me your config.txt file and I'll take a look at that for you just incase there's a problem there.

That was perhaps automatically renamed by Outlook, which it does sometimes, as you can see from the following pic, I have no mygame21.txt.

This might be a stupid point, but are you sure the monsters aren't there - they havn't just run off and you havn't spotted them?

To be absolutely sure you're running with the right dungeon, can you try making a more obvious change to the dungeon (e.g. change the layout on the tiles near the entrance) and check that it appears when you play the game.
