Problem starting Dark Portal.RTC

Post by Rob »

Am using RTC v0.42
Have downloaded and unzipped darkportal.RTC
After placing this file in the Modules folder, darkportal isn't listed when game starts.
Also when dropping this file directly into RTC.Exe, error screen comes up saying that darkpotal.rtc is the wrong file type to be read.

Form an orderly queue to laugh and mock me for being such an idiot.

And then could someone please tell me what I do to load the game.

Thanks

The current release of Dark Portal is compiled for RTC 0.43, as it says on the download thread.

Upgrade your RTC to 0.43 and it should work.

Ok thanks. Will do.

In an earlier thread you wrote,

Recompiled and re-uploaded to address a backward compatibility issue with RTC 0.42.

So I assumed that it would work with v0.42

Think I took it in the wrong context.

Does the recompiled version means you loose all your saved games?
I have tried to start the .43 version - but under .42 and my saved games were gone.

If it will be the same with .43 I am not interessed in that.

Your saved games should still be there, but the .rtc and .sav file are quite seperate, so you would still be playing the old version game mostly with inherent flaws unless it was somehting basic to do with the item properties etc rather than with the file format structure

The game should still have been visible - I have game versions spanning from 0.23 onwards in my modules folder that should all be visible
