Two Questions

Post by THE Materializer »

I am using the latest version of RTC and the editor.

1. How do I add the planks on the floor after a table is destroyed? I see there's a wallitem relay for destroying tables, but after putting it in, and adding the table as a target, I am not sure what else to change on the relay editing screen to get it to work. I loaded up DM2 in the editor to look for the Destroy Table relays, but I didn't find any to use as a comparison. Right now my tables just disappear upon destruction.

2. Fireplaces.. On my current dungeon they can be lit with fireballs, but not with torches. From what I can tell, I would be able to light them with one form of torch or another, but not all versions of the lit torch (full, almost full, almost empty, etc). Mainly because the wallitem fireplace (not lit) gives me only one selection for "operated by". I am not sure if there is a creative way around this. Maybe in a future version of the editor, there can be a OpBys to include all lit versions of torches to be used for fireplaces.

I would also like to thank George Gilbert for giving us a wonderful, easy to use editor to make all of our dungeon dreams come true. Cheers! Creating dungeons has actually peeled me off those addicting MMORPG's I've been playing.

P.S. - I just realized that unlike the original DM2, the torches don't stay lit when they're in the 'mouse' hand. Therefore no point in really lighting a fireplace with an unlit torch. Nevermind my 2nd question.

Regarding the tables problem - I haven't used the editor since about v0.32 so I don't actually know if this would work, but maybe you could check the stats of a table and see if, like creatures, they have a "Drops when killed" section, where you can add stuff that it "drops" when you hack it to bits...?

1. You need the relay to target an action item - that wallitem_action item would then be able to create your planks in the air, on the floor, flying at the party, etc

2. Several solutions - have several instances of the unlit fireplace target a central action item that does the actions, or have the unlit generally clickable, and it targets a relay that only operates if the party has a torch in the mouse hand

k I got the torch lighting the fireplace in all of its various states, but I still can't seem to get the broken tables right. So I use wallitem_action to "create new on floor" the planks? And how do I choose where the planks end up?

Sorry I'm kinda new at this. I have no idea what else to change on the broken table relay chart.

Have you looked at the complex actions dungeon? GG did exactly the same thing, only with breaking bars ioff of a 'reinforced' door - smaller dungeon so the mechanics will be more obvious

Doesn't that example involve the broken pieces shooting out of wall shooters? It's fine for a static table, but not for a movable one.

To destroy table by attacking party, strengts is made one or more.
When table is destroyed by other methods, action of SWAP_TILE is used.

Is it useless in the method of making "New object" in "Convert tab" of table?
Or, is SWAP_TILE useful?
Please forgive poor English.
