Thanks for reminding me! Your score is now up at: http://ragingmole.com/RTC/scores.htmlTonari wrote:In no registration of my character in GHoC, it opens it to the public here as an informal record.
The other noteable new entry is from Trantor - completing DM in 1hr 19mins puts him to the top of the time leaderboard for that dungeon (and only a bit off the DM Original version record of 58mins set by Paul H).
Ooooh, go on then...Tonari wrote:Can you say that this is a high score?

I don't believe there are any changes to the game that would cause any appreciable difference in time to complete.Joramund wrote:Why are game times in RTC (DM, original DM and CSB) far longer than with DM PC / CSB ? Is it just game pace, are the dungeons slightly different or were some "cheats" removed ? (like the horn of fear - kill)
The reason for the difference is more down to not really trying. By their own admissions Trantor and Paul Hs times (the leaders for DM / ODM respectively) were only half-hearted attempts (*). I'm sure if people were to really go for it then the times would be more comparable between RTC and the original games.

(*) The term "half-hearted" doesn't really seem appropriate. Anyone completing DM in about an hour is vastly superior to what I, or many others, can do when trying our hardest!
Actually, there is a reason for different time records: You can circumvent monsters more easily in FTL because they can't disperse if they are grouped.
I wouldn't want this to change in RTC though, I like the monsters's independency in RTC.
Yet, even RTC it would be better if monsters that have met and fit together would travel together as a group and only disperse once they see the party (in that case the group's perception range should be that of the most perceptive individual).
In FTL you have that, oh a group of 2 animated armour, I run around them, oh a group of 2 materializers, I run around them fast and turn to dodge their spells.
In RTC you have that, oh a single knight, I kill it, oh another single knight, I kill it, oh a single materializer, I kill it, oh another single materializre, I kill it.
If monsters would group for travelling (argh, a party of 2 animated armours and 2 materializers) and disperse for encounters, you'd kill 2 birds with a stone.
And of course the monsters still need an AI upgrade.
So if RTC development does not get stuck, and I hope it won't, times will never be completely comparable, unless George decides to downgrade RTC to group only behaviour, which he won't I hope.
