Yeah it's great ain't it :D. I wouldn't have thought of using antennae as feet like that, but then I suppose they wouldn't actually act as feet and would just kinda dangle out the back...still, it's all very amazingly fantastically cool :D.

In the praying mantis one, she made a really long spine, it seems longer than your dragon one? Yet you said the dragon spine was as long as it would go?

I've gotten hooked on this too...

Of course, I had to make some DM creatures too:
A floating beholder

A screamer

Rofl fantastic...how did you make your Beholder float?
And regarding the mantis vs. dragon spines...maybe the dragon's spine just looks shorter because his body is bulkier - the mantis is obviously a lot slimmer which perhaps makes the spine look longer?

The "bottom" of the creature is taken as its lowest point, whatever that is. So if you give it a very thin tail (I used a whipwick made as small as possible) you'll barely see it but it'll keep the rest of the creature above ground.

Spore Creatures Outnumber Real Ones

According to an AFP report, the number of creatures in the Spore database surpassed the number of known species on Earth in the second week of July, a remarkable effort but not quite enough to beat the Biblical high score. "It took them 18 days to reach the number of creatures on Earth and, by some accounts, it took God six days," Wright said.

Omg haha that's fantastic :D. Somehow I've got a feeling this game's gonna sell out rather quickly once it's released...

Pretty impressive numbers, agreed. Yet Spore! has a far simpler creature generator editor than the one that God had to deal with. How God had to work with such archaic tools such as fitting those fiddly internal organs in each body I can't imagine. Modern day creature editors do this sort of stuff in the background for you. So thumbs up for God not forgetting to give us an asshole.

His editor interface must have been bordering on hell, which he infact created himself in a coffee break.

Then there was that tricky terrain creator that God had to deal with, which I anticipate will be an addon for Spore!, called Rocks! You'll get to not only shift those tectonic plates around (with screen refresh rates bordering on what must be a millenia), but weather the rough edges off your favourite mountains too.

Feel free to continue...

But God doesn't exist...

Ah, wait, I guess someone playing Spore! bought the Omnipotence! addon and used it to create God who then created earth and all it's multitude of life which eventually led to the evolving of us hoomans who eventually created Spore!...

It's Spore, without any punctuation, and the full version has a world builder.

Here are some of my more . . . thought-provoking creatures.

Blorgg

D'urg'thog

Felis Myrmicus

Gilthorp

Flesh-eating Gorthrakk

Hyoo-mahn

Nanny Skeksis

Ugg Durr

X'xeelek Strider

Z'g'grak'k

Edit:

Oh, by the way. . . .

Limitless possibilities

Hm.. The Wiki page on species says the following, "Because of the difficulties with both defining and tallying the total numbers of different species in the world, it is estimated that there are anywhere between 2 and 100 million different species."

Just wondering what number they were using in that AFP report.. Are there over 100 million creatures in the Spore database or over 2 million? I'd say it's more hype than anything else..

ANyone finally pre-Order their copy of SPORE yet? got mine last week, I can't wait :D. Oh and does anyone know if the release dates changed in the US because I've been reading the 9th and now all of a sudden they took that off and only have the Euro release on the 7th? Did they just absolve the second release date?

Erm, I haven't checked but when I first found out about hte UK release date (the 5th), it said the US release date was the 7th. Whether or not that's changed I'm afraid I have no clue.
Looking forward to Friday, anyway. Yaaaaay it finally comes out :D.

Nope, I have noticed no drop in your commitment :D

Option three - play both in rotation, and drop some sleep, and add some work sick days! Da-da!
