As you may or may not have noticed, I was quite absent from the forum once again, with RL getting in the way again. Still, the most immediate deadlines are now gone, and I went on vacation so I now have some free time again to visit my favourite website. After two days of Paris and a week of Scotland, here is the information I gathered this summer:

- The tourist information at the Gare de L'Est in Paris is surprisingly helpful, friendly, and cheap (meaning free, apart from the Metro tickets).
- French crêpes with Nutella taste exactly like German ones.
- The Eiffel tower is damn high.
- The Louvre is damn huge.
- Sandwicheries are everywhere in Paris. I suspect a plot of the Sandwich Mafia to take down Sarkozy.
- How there can be a day without at least 6471 crashes around the Arc de Triomphe is a total mystery to me.
- Driving a car on the left lane feels just plain wrong.
- 60% of Scottish girls dress like whores when they go into a restaurant or a McDonald's, with the percentage being much higher if said girls are under the age of 15.
- Tesco seems to be the only supermarket in Scotland, and I wish it would exist here (if only for the SpongeBob cake).
- Scottish sheep are terrified by humans, afraid of bicycles, and completely unfazed by cars coming straight at them.
- Irn Bru is cool.
- A small portion of Fish & Chips can feed an average family for about 2 weeks. Good I didn't take the large portion...
- Taxi drivers in Glasgow are barely understandable.
- Edinburgh > Glasgow

Lol, there is nothing I can teach you Trant - you learned everything there is to know about Scotland!

Glad your downtime was not all bad downtime then!

Hey, welcome back Trantor! It's been quiet without you. In fact it's been pretty quiet generally, though I guess that's summer's fault.

Coming up to Autumn and then winter -- colder months means more chat! Great :-)

Glad you had some great hols, Trantor... Please note that the average Scottish female fillie is impervious to the weather, and dress like this in the winter as well. Tough race.

Last week, I went to The Rocky Horror Show in Berlin, and from what I gathered, the show will go on tour at least in Europe in the upcoming months. I was technically a virgin before, meaning I had only watched the movie on TV and DVD, but never in a cinema, let alone as a musical.

It was a very nice experience; blond hair for both Frank and Magenta felt a bit weird, and the actors rushed through their lines a bit too fast for my tastes. Also, it seemed like many people in the audience weren't quite sure how to act; the atmosphere was still a bit reserved, even though plenty of toilet paper and confetti were thrown. The cast was good, Riff Raff was actually terrific, while Magenta and Janet seemed a bit sub-par to me.

All in all, it was a great evening. Should you have a chance to see it, it's definitely worth it.

Tomorrow, I'll be flying to Seoul for a week, visiting a friend who lives there. So if you don't hear anything from me in the next week, don't worry, I'll still be there.

Actually, internetlessland was very survivable, although it's good to be back :D

The new flat is new and shiny and not too bad a shake-down to get things working so far.

It's nice to be able to just walk around, especially leaving things to cook and taking up all the work surfaces :D

And hey, I kept my lay-out the same as before in my room, with a nice large livingroom/kitchen thing to enjoy so later on I can have the fun of reshuffling stuff into the living room!

So yeah, so far so fun

The evidence would seem to suggest it. I'm kinda surprised though. Normalcy is the usual theme when geeks get together, isn't it?

Ages ago!

I guess I can initiate one sometimes next week (away this weekend).

The trouble, if I recall, is the back-up kept stopping so I only got partials - and was also as slow as sin!

I was under the impression there might be one or two. Do you think it's less than that?

Actually, Adamo's msg prompted me to do one anyway. Technically, I'm no longer a tech-admin here, but I still care about it and as I hadn't done a site backup for ages, I took one last night. Files=180MB. Forum database=262MB. Wow!

Now I have my own stable net, and overnight downloads are free, I can actually start doing this!

Although my desktop went weird last night - but it seems fine now, so let's assume everything is fine now!

I'm off to Denmark for a week, so if you don't hear from me, no, it's not because I got banned again.

Don't worry, you'll be banned as soon as you come back. :)

I've returned from Denmark last Saturday with my wallet totally empty, it's one of the most expensive countries I've ever been to. Don't forget to visit Christiania in Copenhagen, they have beer there for ca 20 DKK (and it's the cheapest beer there)... but don't forget to leave it before sunset.
Finally playing and immensely enjoying the awesome Thimbleweed Park-a-reno!
