Hello brothers in arms !
Since I finished CSB i would like to try a new challenge lots of people here seem to have had fun with : the solo run.
Back when i was kid i never had this kind of idea, finishing DM was hard enough. And even the last time i played i trained my heroes hard killing giant rats in order to kill the creeps without breaking a sweat.
But now i am in for a bigger challenge ! All i want is fun and some difficulty and i create this topic to harvest some advices.
I know i won't try to break a speed record but i would like to know more about the unwritten rules of the solo/dual runs
Thanks a lot for any advice you could give me

Don't carry more than you need to - CSB is great as you always have the junction of the ways to put excess food, water and weapons and quest items. Balance your armour, weapons with your other supplies. You will probably need chests for all the nick-nacks
For your first solo run, I'd say fighter is more fun than spellslinger just because you can soak up the damage. Then again, you will have more food so more ability to sleep more for recharging mana.
Learn to love the spin around, you can take out solo spellcasters better now.
I guess solo runs can be slower at first because you can deal less damage, but then you level so so much faster.
However, if you fancy dropping down from a four party, do a two first - it's a good balance

I only play DM and custom dungeons with a single character - it's a bit harder at the beginning, but really more fun!
CSB is pretty tough for a solo run, I think. I've finished it only once in this way (with reincarnated Chani from finished DM), and I'm sort of proud of it.
Carying more stuff than you need ("just in case..."), having no space for all the items in your inventory, and being constantly overweight (and thus having problems with speed and stamina) is probably the biggest problem of a solo run. You should pick a balanced character (Chani is a good option, I think), but, as Beowuuf said, slightly favouring fighting capabilities (and carrying capabilities.. the chests are pretty heavy, damn!).
However, the best way is to learn it by doing.
So, GOOD LUCK! And keep us informed about your progress!

Finally playing and immensely enjoying the awesome Thimbleweed Park-a-reno!

My first proper run in CSB was actually a solo with Aroc - only ressurected, of ocurse!
Good balance of fighter skills (hence carrying capacity) yet good mana and magic skills that bird!

I did try a solo run thourgh DM into CSB, but got stuck because I just didn't have enough inventory space and also kept going into the yellow, weight-wise and stuff. I like a party of two because then you can still do the quick-spin thing to avoid spells (not that I ever actually do, but it's there if I need it
), and you have enough space/mana between the two of you to get by okay
.

Oh yes, that too
. Can't do the "Whap, whap, whap, whap" of four quick-cast Fireballs, but with only two people in the group to train, there should be more mana between them quicker than if you had to spend the time on four people
.
