I'd suggest not doing that in an open space or gigglers will steal you stuff. Try to find a close-able room or a readily accessible DOWNstairs place.

Note for later:
Don't use the teleport spell without anchoring somewhere first.

To the note for later:
I was in a room with a staff in an alcove I wanted to keep, but I could not get out of there with the staff in inventory
(tried throwing it out of the room to no avail)
So I teleported out there with the staff in hand, left the door closed .. I ended up in the underwater level I think.. was not too bad since I then had not yet visited that place..

That's exactly the way teleport was planned to be useful.

I managed to escape with the staff without teleporting.

Yes, there are some short-term predicted solutions, and some other that rather are implicated by future interactions of posterior mechanisms - I *think* it's the part that Paul Stevens likes.

I don't understand what you say. But I remember I escaped by another method in another game, so that must be it.

WEre you incredibly lucky with your movements choices, or did you have a party that even Lord Cahos would fear?

The first time I did it, I was incredibly lucky. I had a scary party of four guides with awesome names:
Lord Eddard Stark (Zed), Asterix le Gaulois (Leif), Myamoto Musashi Sensei (Iaido), Maester Aemon Targaryen (Gando)
The second time, I did it the way Indiana Jones would have done. And my party is pretty scary: Iaido alone, overweaponed and skilled.

Iaido OWNS the Undercity. I mean, I pretty much can kill anything face-to-face. (Just pawned Xanathar and the Dragon Den without retreating)

Q2 - Is there any point in freeing the master thief, aside from getting robbed-big time ?
Potential bug : going on a trial for the third time results in being trapped. (after the Council is dead) Maybe the tribunal should be entirely bypassed.
[EDIT: Ok it's not a request, more like a remark] Balance request : when "partially failing" the trial, it seems the party is bound to die an horrible death from Living Armors. That's a bit unfair, and just prompts a quit-load.
The Helm of Madness is a bit useless... is there a way to "cure it" ?

I think the living armours are a way to bypass the logic puzzle with a fight instead. Are you sayign there are too many armours (I think you generate one per wrong guess) or are you saying they should just not be there (and the player should be forced to solve the riddle)?

There are way more than 1 armor per wrong guess ! More like 3-4 !
I suppose it's the same as the previous riddle, a wrong guess should result in death penalty. But I would maybe add a twist: a wrong guess adds another riddle when you go down the pit, instead of directly leading to the Council underway.

But then you are penalising someone not good at puzzles with more puzzles, and also making zyx come up with more riddles
I think the mechanism must be broken then, it sounds like one wrong guess generates the whole lot.

Swiftdeath... swiftdeath of who ? The special poison of swiftdeath doesn't seem to work very often...
As a general remark, funereal weapons have been toned down quite a lot, doesn't seem that impressive anymore.
Now it's just all Furx (plz don't tone that one, otherwise finding a good weapon in this game will be

difficult )

Fixed for next version, should be 1.
funereal weapons have been toned down
I planned to add ways to sustain the drain, but it's still in the sandbox.
Q1 - I can't find the last B-key in the Apprentice level. I found the hidden one, the worm one and the fireball corridor one.
Get the zoooom chest.
Q2 - Is there any point in freeing the master thief, aside from getting robbed-big time ?
Only if you can lend him a lockpick.

Hi,
just some fast questions:
1) I asking myself since the realease of DM on my atari 520 stf, if you add a shield in left hand of a character, does it increase his defense stat or only if you put it in the right hand? Beside this how can i know the defense value of equipement for my team, should i use ghi trousers or robe or tabard? I'm near the beginning and keep die often, so i wonder.
2) dilemma: for my third character, is it better to take Chani Sayyadina sihaya, or Tiggy Tamal? obviously tiggy has far better specs, but maybe chani evolve faster, after all she is an hidden character...
3) is there a spe that influence the way characters need food and water (like strengh or vitality or stamina...) ? some eat and drink like birds and others like ogres (who said Boris?).

1) this is more a question for the general engine, you can get information fro mthe DM encyclopaedia and you can can also look into the ADGE programme available through the tools forum or encyclopaedia to see the armour values of clothes, etc
2) Noit sure I'm afraid, one for zyx to answer
3) Again, one for the general engine - if I recall vitality has an influence on food/water consumption, but also some od interactions with other things like stamina drain. There are threads on it relatively r4ecently, but hopefully the encyclopaedia might also offer clues.

Thx for the answer, i'm gonna check the encyclopedia right now ^^.
If Zyx read this, i'm still wondering about my third character choice, i have taken tiggy for now, for her stats, but have kept a save game for the choice and I'm ready to reload it if you say it worth it. thx in advance.
beside this, what is ADGE exactly? I've read what i have found, but still unclear.

It allows people to view and edit the graphics.dat file of CSBwin and DM. In this file is all the graphics of the game, but also many of the cosmetic functions of the items and monsters

In the current version you have, I think Chani's powers are not very interesting. In the next beta version, they should be more useful.
In your version Tiggy is best because he/she will help you fight non corporeal creatures, besides the better stats.
If you haven't got too far in the dungeon I can give you access to the beta. 99% is working, some new feature are not complete but shouldn't interfere with the gameplay. Feedback will be welcome.

Hmmm. Done. Where did I find the other keys, really ?
I think I used at least one keys from the Council to open the Xanathar part,
and now I only have one B key left, so there must be another key somewhere.
I'm lost.
Q2 - Is there any point in freeing the master thief, aside from getting robbed-big time ?
Only if you can lend him a lockpick.
Well, I did that, he emptied the room and left with no excuses.

In the original engine shields certainly does something (probability of getting wounded in a torso or legs is lowered I think). I don`t know how it looks like in Conflux, this might have been changed if Zyx used his magic DSAs powers. Anyway, Sophia examined the problem in this thread:

Where did I find the other keys, really ?
2 are in chests, one in the center of the zoooom area, the other in the worm area.
1 is gained through solving the pit area.
The last one, the most difficult, is beyond a dead end in the zoooom area.
The master thief: he should give you access to an otherwise inaccessible area, and if you find him again, you can recover your goods.
Is there a Conflux IV in progress???
Rather a 3 and half. I can't put the effort for a C IV.

Thx for the link, it was helpful, even if the post doesn't reply directly for the use of the right of left hand, but now i know for sure they could be of some interest. ^^
To Zyx: I'd love to try the beta, it would be a pleasure, just tell me me how to proceed. More than this, i'm not really far in the game, so i can either use my savegame from bugfix5 or begin a new game, that is not a problem for me. Tell me, if you think that can be helpful.
By the way, do you plan to add the "click the fountain to drink" in the game?

That's a limitation of the CSBwin engine (since it was based on the atari engine that didn't use this)
I think it's an effort to code touching ever fountain in the game to boost the water level, I forget if CSBwin actually lets you adjust this field. I also think the starting game was balanced to force you to find the correct waterskin, or get a flask, so you could drink. Could be wrong!

Beta here:

By the way, do you plan to add the "click the fountain to drink" in the game?
The true original message of DM, beyond Order and Chaos, was about Good and Ill manners. Putting your mouth directly on a fountain simply can't be allowed. The fact that amiga users could do it proves their punk attitude. You're not a punk, are you?
Anyway, this is a request for Paul Stevens, it's a feature of the engine, not of the dungeon. Ask him.
