Lol, well done Ian, just tnoced you managed to score a perfect critical failure with your first blow, and a perfect critical success with your second blow! I increased the damage accordingly for the second blow.

Ok, initiative order is:

Ameena - 18
------------------------------
Trolin crossbowmen - 16
-----------------------------
Westian - 15
----------------------------
Trolin 2 & 3 - 14
Undead 1 - 10
Trolin leader - 8
Remaining undead - 6
-----------------------------
Haynuus - 19 -> 6

Really only matters is Westian or Ameena need to act before the Trolin crossbowmen - which, who knows, they might need to!

Lol, a level 6 half-orc contributing to the fight really swings the fight, though I think the Trolins are pretty tough too, and of course the Trolin's rolls went pretty well, as opposed to the undead's relatively poor showing.

Still, the Trolin leader is bloodied, while Haynuus looks pretty hot right now. I wonder if that will cause problems...

And meanwhile down on the ground, I imagine Ameena with eyes opened up like dinner plates looking heartbreakingly alone, while Westian does some odd dance with an undead that resembled the T1000 after a shell explosion :D

Anyway, good times, a few dramatic beats still to play out, but I reckon you guys might soon be re-united and be able to make some intelligent decisions about your next move.

And if OB has remembered about it, Westian still has some plot-related revelations swimming in his brain stretching back to when he first fell off the ledge. So that's all good!

In sad news, of course, money seems to have dropped off the face of the forums :( I assume it's now the implementation phase of the big sky release-o-fun, so still hope to see him around and kicking butt sooner or later :) Less sure we'll se LB anytime soon though :( Still, Aurek is not necessarily out, even though his character is firmly in my hands in a 'battered NPC' status

And of course, sooner or later - hopefully sooner - you guys can perhaps unite with Raixel!

Anyway, all good stuff to look forward to, just need to get the pesky undead and Trolins and weirdness under control first!

OK!

Internet connection is dire at home. Need to change provider.

Got a weeks holiday from Friday afternoon in some place that is cold and wet... Hopefully. You get tired of the continuous sun, blue sky and heat. We're off to the coast on the Atlantic here in Spain so hopefully will be able to chill out. So will be afk for 6 or 7 days. After that another week of hols but should be pottering about intermittently after that!

Rofl, yes, I was thinking that too - though that's just "I see you"...it wasn't a deliberate attempt at mimicry though.
Hopefully the horrible scariness will be over soon and my poor depressed murafu can collapse into a little ball and maybe get a hug or something. If murafu had the physical capacity to shed tears, I'm pretty sure she'd do so most fervently upon realising that her friends aren't actually dead and stuff :).

Indeed, Ameena's depressed decision probably means Westian has the opening to give her a hug..or something. If not, a hug-requiring half-orc is about to appear aroudn the corner.

And lol, Ameena's gunna be all happy while the other two will be 'poor Aurek'. Ah, wackiness :)

Lol oh yeah, it's all a load of crazy fun madness right now :D. She may not let Westian get close - it depends on how he does it...but Haynuus's appearance should throw a spanner in her currently messed-up mental works. I'm not really sure what she'll make of it all ;).

Re: DM themed play-by-post D&D game : OOC thread

Ok, so since we loose Ian for a week, it's a little hard to do any of the dramatic 'Aurek is dead', etc stuff. I hope no-one minds I jumped a little with the reuiniting bit. And re-oriented on something I kicked off with Westian at the start of the encounter!

It's a little sad we're down money and Ian won't be here, this week so the big 'shall we discuss the major plot element' will be a little bit truncated. Still, Ameena knows lots of stuff (player, the character knows things, without realising it). Westian has been getting fed lots of stuff with all his near-death experiences and brushes with his god recently.

So yes, I present the opportunity to finally start to discuss and even crack properly one of the central mysteries of the game, the mystery of exactly what put everyone in the room the previous game day (and in real time almost 11 months ago!). It would be a cool 1 year anniversary gift for you guys to actually know what's going on, really :D

Of course, the discussion can get postponed if its decided that carrying on, discussing other things, trying for Aurek after all, pressing ahead to the fall, investigatign the crack, going backwards to the grak-grak's last place, etc is a better use of the time. Or Haynuus can introduce you to his friends on the ledge above!

The direction is, as always, all yours, though I've hopefully given you four or five solid story choices there. Face the plot. Help a friend. Continue the mission (alone). Continue the mission (get grak-graks). Uncover the secret of the cavern (glowing waterfall?)

With Ian out, OB and Ameena, you will be flying solo. You'll have a dejected half-orc in tow, any rolls or info you might need from him we can hand wave until Ian gets back, or I can fill in. So I guess that definitely means Ameena has the weekend off, and then you guys have normal posting for next week.

OB, or Ameena, if you want to discuss OOC any plot stuff, feel free to start a new thread here (to keep the OOC as uncluttered as possible). That will also let Ian pick out those points quickly when he gets back.

Oh, and congratulations for surviving the slow war of attrition that was the encounter. It was close there once or twice, (I think Haynuus was even one perception roll away from being hit, then hit again from drinking a potion, and let's not forget the fun of pitching Westian off a cliff for 5d6 damage followed by sticking leeches on him, or hey, the fact Ameena was pretty close to a mental break down). Still, you guys won out in the end, no one had to die and be reincarnated, Haynuus has faced his Trolin demons and won, Westian has stuck his holy symbol up at the priest, and Ameena had faced her being alone demons, thoguh not sure of the true cost of that yet.

So yeah!

I dunno - I was sort of waiting for someone to start this discussion thingy first and then I'll join in...I think Ameena is rather too relieved at being reunited with her friends to immediately start thinking about wtf to do next ;).

During all this exchange, you can probably assume Haynuus is trying to look intelligent and understanding of the concepts, and is in reality playing with his tongue :)

Ohh yeah, I forgot Ian was away, lol - I just had to scroll up and find the post where he said he'd be on holiday in order to remind myself. Well, that's alright, then - I suppose it means I can act like Haynuus doesn't mind a still-somewhat-nervous murafu sitting on/against his feet/side ;).

Although I'll let Haynuus join in the discussion a little at the start of the week, and I think I'll launch an OOC thread resolving the whole 'this is what is happening with time travel' bit, I also want to move us on.

So OOC, can you guys figure out where you want to go next? It soudns as if Westian wants to press on - but do you mean press on back into the dungeon (using the crack close by) or do you mean press on as in towards the waterfall? Since you guys rolled some good perception rolls, your characters will be very aware that there is still signs of life in the cavern - vague impressions of movement at the edges, etc, all around.

Oh, and we're rapidly approaching the one year mark for the start of this game! I believ it's 11 months this weekend! So that's pretty cool :) At the one year mark, I'll once again offer you guys the chance at any IC reward you like - I think only OB and Ian tookme up on the offer, and got a screamer slice and holy symbol :)

It doens't have to be a symbol, it can be a story point, returning charatcer, anything really. Well, within reason - a ring of infinite wishes, or having Lord Chaos as a bodyguard might be a stretch!

Also advanced warning that I might be distracted this week as I will have a friend down for a coupel of days at the start of the week, and my mum down over the extended weekend. Shoudl still be able to post, and I imagine the start of next week won't need me much anyway (well, in the main thread, raixel is being put upon mercilessly right now) but there you are! Speaking of the erstwhile pixie, I also plan on having Petal join the group one way or another by the end of this month. I'll leave you to ponder how that will happen, if you guys don't get near any champion mirrors anytime soon! :D

Regarding where to go next, I'm not really sure. I suppose taking out the priesty dude would be a good idea, though has its very obvious dangers - especially since it seems he can get into someone's head when they're not even thinking about him (despite what Soorec said). I know what we have to do in the game as a whole (and about the whole time-travel thing, etc), but as for immediate action, all I can really say is that staying in one place is probably a bad idea, and I don't really want to head down the route the grak-graks took, in case we run into them again. That's about it ;).

Yeah, well there's some wacky mechanics about the priest. Just so you don't think I'm being too arbitrary... yes, he needs to be 'invited' in a way to get into someone's head, or else he will just be picking aroudn outside. The trouble is, if he gets into someone's head...and they know other people well...hmm... well, then you might find it's like giving someone else a key to your house, and that person having the key stolen...

And also, I'm going oldschool in that a person's real name is pretty powerful. Soorec was a little bit slapdash in how he protected you guys, I think. And, you know, if anyone in the group has been severely compromised...

So basically Ameena might reluctantly go back into the dungeon through the crack, with the purpose of seeing the priest, but woulnd't actively suggest it. And would be just as happy (if not happier) perhaps goign towards the sparking waterfall? So noted.

Well, Westy wasn't too specific in his explanation when Ameena asked him what it was that messed up her head (he just said he suspected it was "the same person who sent those undead after us"), though I suppose if she thinks about it enough she'll probably remember what Soorec said about the priesty dude being able to get inside people's heads.
Ameena will agree with my opinion that risking reuniting with the grak-graks is undesirable. I think she won't be too keen on seeking out the priest (even withoug having realised it's him who messed up her head just now). So yeah, I suppose the waterfall might seem the most interesting place to go right now, though knowing as she does that the water is some kind of Scary Thing, she probably won't want to get too close to that either ;).
