So? What was it like? You promised to keep us informed! :) I hope you had a good time - and will have a good time in the future with these people. :D

Yes, sorry, I was gonna post but I forgot, seeing how late I got back. It was really cool :D. In the end there was my dad, my sister, her boyfriend, and three other blokes. It ran from 7pm till shortly before 11pm - we spent probably just over half the time building our characters, then the bloke in charge made up a quicky adventure off the top of his head - we killed a few goblins in a forest and then this giant pig monster thingy appeared and we managed to kill that too.
Will be going again, certainly! They run on Mondays and Thursdays but I may not be goign next week as I think I'll be away but I'm not sure for how long.

Wow, cool, sound great. I hope the piggie thing is not dead, only sleeping. :D

Your father must be a very great man, I can't imagine my father doing such things (and my father IS a great man).

OK, so good luck in your adventures! You can write here from time to time about your progress. And you should probably thank to that mysterious EM who started this thread! :)

Yee haa, what a cool outcome! Nice one Ameena. Funny how things turn out. Would be nice if EM returns so he can see the results of his handiwork :-)

There's some kind of convention thingy in October for all kinds of tabletop games and stuff (not just DnD but all other kinds of those games too, as well as card ones like Magic: The Gathering, and loads of games I've not even heard of), in Watford which is in north London somewhere apparently - we might be going to that too :D.

Oooooooooooooooh, tell me when and I'm there! I know there is a worldwide D&D day middle of September too.

Anyway, sounds cool! What ruleset did you use? Are you a hardened experienced player now? :)

when we played DnD we used 4th Edition rules, I think. Tonight we played a game called Hollow Earth Expedition. I got to steer a sauropod (dinosaur like a brachiosaurus thingy) and also tore half my face off. It was great fun :D.
And for Wuffy and anyone else interested, since you asked, the website for that convention thingy is gamesfest.co.uk - I expect I'll be going. It's not for a while yet, anyway.

It was fun tearing half your face off? Man, I need me some of those beans!

Well, no alright, it wasn't really fun as such...the mad scientist bloke made me these gripping-glove things so I could more easily climb the rope ladder up the sauropod's neck to sit on his head and attach the clicky-things which I could use to make him go, but then we got attacked by some terrasaurs and the bloke who assists the mad scientist decided to fire his steam cannon thingy, and so we all had to cover our ears because it's bloody loud, but afterwards the gloves were sort of stuck to my face so I had to sort of rip them off and it hurt lots...but then I got the occultist (played by my dad) to climb up and heal me so it was alright :D.

Ah, sounds like the reason why most of the pirates with a hook-hand also wear an eye-patch (commonly left hand-hook - left eye-patch and vice versa). :)

Poor Ameena! Now you'll have to wear a face-patch.

Nah, like I said - I got healed ;). We're off the sauropod now, and in the forest heading toward a city place that resembles Waterfall City from Dinotopia (if you've ever seen that). we have to figure out a way to ride down this river thingy into the city as there's no bridge or anything.
But I dunno when we're gonna get back to that game...we will at some point but Thursdays are now gonna be a dungeon crawl while Mondays are gonna be ummm...something else...errrm, think he said it woud be Dark Heresy next week. I've never played any of these games before, and haven't heard of most of them, so whatever really, lol.

Does healing include plastic surgery?
(I've been always thinking about a character having 1/400 HP and being healed by a few flasks of potion... you know, the fatal wounds, limbs cut off, internal organs severly damaged and everything... and then a few flasks in a few seconds and ta-da!... here we go again!)

Remember Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

I've kept hearing about mouse guard the comic and RPG, maybe it's something you can ask about Ameena when you are doing your next session, or if you get to a Forbidden Plant, etc?

Aaww, cute, so there's an RPG where you play mice? Cool, I must investigate further...

(Great old movie, by the way)

Actually, it's a forbidden PLANE, but BW was a bit tired at that moment. :)

Well, next time I do happen to be visiting FP in London, I'll take a look at the gaming section just to see what kind of stuff there is. Luc (the guy who runs the gaming club I've bene going to), it turns out, owns the Mouse Guard RPG-book and he lent it to me last night so I've got it atm and I've been reading it. It looks really quite interesting - less based on dice-rolling and more on actual RP/character development stuff. I've not read very far through the book yet but it still sounds good. And you get to play mice! Alright so they're not quite rats (;)), but at least it's not being stuck into a boring variation of humans :P.

Heh, I was about to mention Forbidden Planet, too. It is probably the only movie that gave me nightmares (hey, I was just 11 when I saw it). Today, it is one of my favourites. I've heard there will be a remake for that great old classic and hope it will raise the interest for the original.
