man... I've just scratched the surface of this dungeon.
Every time I think: "This must be it, this must be the bottom, I'm doing well, ain't I?" something mindpopping happens (like entering the water level or the fire caves)
There are so many things I do not know about and there will be secrets left after years of play.
THe crypt characters aren't too bad, last time I played they had no special abilities though
Please explain... special abilities?
then again: please don't. I want to find out myself.
(There it happens again... "ouhh, yessss: learn to block...")
Anyway: How could a guilt leader ever be the weakest part of a party??
I wish I had more time to dig deeper into Conflux.
Then again, 'it' will last longer.
After I reached a certain level of conflux knowledge I'd like to take part in the wiki too, hoping there will be anything left to add when I'd be able to do so.
Aaahh... looking forward for these 1-2 hours of play while in bed, lights shut off, smoking in the glow of that little Pocket screen.
cya!

'Special' abilities - some characters like the guild guides, leaders, and hidden characters have thigns triggered by possessing them. Sometimes its small, like an area revealed, other times it's big, like advice from the guides.
The guild leaders have (or used to have) stats that, while high compared to the rest of the guild, are low because by the time you get to them and earn the five guild items, you have trained your other characters for quite a while and so they will probably be much better in levels and health
And lol, as you can see, the wiki will grow for quite some time. People need the time to add their knowledge, many people's knowledge like my own is actually outdated and based on old version, and also there is just sooooo much to this dungeon!
Anyway, have fun in your next conflux fix

ive still only got 3 characters - theyre all Adepts now. i started with just Leif, then added Gando after about 4 hours playing, then Daroou much later on. i think if you have 4 characters too early on then you simply cant feed and water them enough

i dont think i'll add a 4th one at all, as they will be more of a burden than a help. i have two strong warriors up front, and a good wizard/priest at the back, thats all i need... maybe...

Some people say two characters (in general for DM) are the best balance, I tend to play with just one and curse lack of inventory space

you only need water to survive. no food at all! Champions won't be very happy, but at least they won't die and regain health and mana.
I have incarnated the iaido guy, as far as I remember fell down a pit
without any items. I kept the throwing star as a weapon..
ran aimlessly around, entered the temple. There I got a severe food problem and managed to end up in the water elemental area, on level 2?.
On the brink of death I drank water and regained stamina!
there is a stairway to the worm level, where you cannot cast magic torchlight spells. I trained at this stairway for ages, the worms kept respawning and I simply could not breach a way through. Training had
no effect, sadly! Cancelling that approach found a way to the Hall of
Champions! I tried again with a full food bar, to progress on the worm
level, but failed again. (there lies my throwing star somewhere!!!)
Dared to grab a vorpal blade which proved to be very nice, since I
had not tried the spells so far.
Managed to get a real sword at some time, next to a map password;
it was a bit easier to get trough the monster masses on level 2 then, and thus were able to gain items for a few levels more.
Well, now I have been to a spider level(much hit and run) and
with a katana it is not that much of a problem. Interestingly I don't really
know how I got to the portal area, where I am now.
I guess I will go on and try to get this aketon on spider level.
Or have my revenge on these worms with the katana!!!!
Ah, before I forget: is there a way to repair broken weapons??
I really hope, because the mace of order is broken!!!

err, underwater... about 500 munchers.... are these guys infinite? didnt stand a chance

i saw the red beholder thing - i take it this is the guy i have to kill to get some artifact.
also completed The Guardian, but it wasnt worth it cos all it did was open up a doorway that i'd already been on the other side of (the long stairway that starts at Ash Stash and goes down past hell to a door requiring an unusual key), having said that i cant remember how i got on that side in the first place. i think a wall closed on me last time so that the only way out was to eat ash, but i dont know how to reopen it. reason being is because there is a small room behind a ra door (open with a gold coin) that has an altar and an emerald key lock. i used both my emerald keys to get past The Guardian.
also i finally have the Onyx key, but cant remember where it goes.!!

On the mines level (third level), you'll have to gain access to the dwarven forges... a rope might come in handy, so you won't have to hurt yourself. You'll have a rather hard fight then (against an enemy you usually won't expect to be that tough). You'll need some luck, because you likely will find yourself trapped between 3 enemies. Prepare a low level spell against nonmaterial beeings will help! Then you'll be in the right place. Don't forget to bring along the mace.

You'll also get a VERY nice reward and the answer to a riddle you wondered about already.
I hope I didn't spoil to much. Good to see others exploring and learning too.
T0Mi
EDIT:
also i finally have the Onyx key, but cant remember where it goes.!!
Don't worry, you havn't seen the door yet, but will remember as soon as it shuts down just behind you!

to Black Eagle:
The munchers will never die off completely. There will only be more and more of them. Your best bet is to try and clear that entire area on your first pass when they are fewest in number, which is difficult but possible. The giant crab is indeed holding an artifact, which is one of the coolest items in the game just because it works like it's supposed to. If you have a full party, the giant crab is a piece of (crab) cake. If not, it is extremely difficult, unless you have some winds on hand.

I'll tone down the muncher generation for next version

Yeha, the munchers always overwhelmed me too whenever I played that area, and I knew exactly what generates them too!
Am I right in thinking the second entrance to the water world also generates them in exactly the same way? I always thought it might be an idea for this entrance not to, to give you a chance!

gave up with the underwater bit. i got to the stage where i didnt really have anywhere to go. looked around a bit, and managed to fall my way down into Moria!!! loads of places to explore (this place is massive!), FINALLY got the axe!!! and found a nice little chap called Smaug!

and became his dinner. his cavern is strewn with glittery things though!!!
can anyone remember where the bit is that asks you for 10 daggers? i stumbled across it very early on in the game, and ive been carrying them around with me ever since in case i found it again!

i dont know what ive done but the first hall (the 21st hall is it called?) is swarming with orcs, and a giant red demon (the balrog?) who toasted all 3 of us in one go!

ive found the four maps to Moria so hopefully theyll help.
...and ive seem a glimpse of a giant grey monster through a half-open doorway. so thats at least 3 massive creatures down here! i want my mummy!! lol

finally got 2 points!!
I wonder what items are "better" than others.
for weapons ?
waraxe < katana
for skeletons any mace works best atm
is the ranking of the encyclopaedia for armor correct?
now I got mithral , partially plate , but it would help
in the beginning to know what has the best protection
or is that too much to ask?

dm ranking :leather jerkin best elven stuff less robe least.
Shields make a difference , I have the feeling..
//////////////
dwarven forge .. was able to repair my weapon
the little sentinel critter went down one of the pits.
have to search the remnants still...
...........................................
possiblility to choose between stamm and sonja.
which one is the guild leader?
spoiler reduced advice on that choice please..
Maybe it just boils down to the shield or the weapon..
(I don't want to waste a slot on the wrong champion,
again, I don't know what to do. Started as a single
champion game and wanted the best champions in the
party, which would be guild leaders, I reckoned.. hmm,
I will at least miss out on one of them!! aaaaargh!

Yeah, there used to be a stone dragon at the bottom of the stair of ashes when you face the dark councillor, and there is also a dragon attacking moria
And hey, if you have seen LOTR, you should know what event triggered the raising of the orcs and balrog - perhaps a skeleton went down a well (or perhaps you did!)

funny, how people feel different about certain areas.
The spider levels still make me prepare my party (full mana + fireballs ready) to survive, but I never had food problems. The sewers are literally littered with berries and pods, because my 2 people don't need so much food. But even with my first 4 members party, it wasn't a real problem. The screamers could be respawned infinite, still it needed some time to get full stomachs for all chars. Much easier to keep the chars feed than, say ToC.
The munchers can be easily dealt with using low level poison clouds and are almost killed instantly. Still of course the Water level is hard (because it huge and 'open' and thus you can be attacked from 3 sides most of the time). IMHO, buxfix3 is final. No crashes and almost no errors, everything is well balanced.
My main problem is finding another monk staff + corbum, so what Beo said is coming true for me. I could choose the ninjas guilt leader as a third party member NOW, but I want 2 mages in second line, so I have to roam around more, then I probably will find myself having On master fighter/wizards and adding a resurrected char to them. Will need some time to train, so she/he could keep the pace.
Should I add Leyja right now or should I wait for either (or both) a priest/wizard (leader) to add?
3 partymembers are really something to think about anyway, as only 1 members get all the clobbering and the needed healing, which is easier compared to healing 2 front-line chars simultanieously. Any hints on what to do? better quests/abilities?
Another thing: (EDIT quickly as it is a bad spoiler)
I've got 4 rubies and 4 emeralds for the 'shoppe', but the only thing that happens seems to be a shortcut opened. I was expecting somekind of superitem (like "Pauls trousers" with a wisdom boost +100.
)
greetings
T0Mi
P.S. killed the gargoyle in "sudden death" !!! *proud*

Lol, I have the opposite idea - weapons and use up the mana preparing potions!
The staves and corbums are in wizard/priest priest oriented areas sometimes (so the temple I seem to recall is good) and there is also a door in the supplies area that is good for a corbum
In general, riddles yeild staves/corums for intelligent or wise solutions. There are definitely a few to gain of each on the top few levels alone
And no, I'm afraid the exit is all you can expect for your spoiler bit
PS - new code! we can use spoiler tags now to create
this

love the spoiler tags - i'll definately use them from now on. on that note i suddenly realised what the solution to the ninja path was (dduuuhhhhh!!) but the wizard and priest ones have still got me foxed!

beowuuf wrote:one is guaranteed to be almost right infront of you, and the other one is a very natural answer
guaranteed to be almost right in front of me?? wall or space!! i cant do anything else!!!!

nope - ive thought of everything.
i know about the false wall to Nabi but this doesnt reveal anything except his scroll about a truth shield which is a meaningless spell!
and the slot is gem-shaped and ive tried all four colours of gem (except the powergem which i dont yet have)
the priest one i thought was a scroll - holds knowledge. but no good. there's also nowhere to put any object - just the bag in the distance which i cant get to.
are they both actual inventory items?
ive tried throwing stuff and casting stuff! which one of your clues is which riddle? im determined to work them out if it kills me!!!!!!!

the wizard one:
you said priest, hope you mean wizard, yes, you had it correct. Where the riddle is asked is where you put the item. zyx is a sneaky one, only he would think of putting a trigger there!
priest one:
don't think 'unnatural' treasures like gems, think of a very natural treasure. Or rather a very natural treasure chest. Umm, except in conflux, where the contents can be less natural, like munchers apparently!

Nabi:
The scroll contains a locked spell. The only way to unlock it is to get Nabi on the team.
I just love the new spoiler tags, but I wish they got displayed in line with the rest of the text inside a paragraph.
And Tomi, lots of monsters can attack any party position in conflux, so having one characteror two in the front row makes little difference. And back row party members can attack when nobody is in front of them.

ok beowuuf thanks for that i solved the first one. i can FINALLY cast a FIREBALL!!!!

for the first time ever in the game!
what does it mean by you can use the oven again???
by the priest puzzle im guessing something to do with the mischievous bag, but ive never been able to cast it as it says i need a component. ive tried an empty bag too

Got Gothmog added to my party as a third member. GREAT!
He's performing well (H422/S357/M238) and now is = master wizard (ok, staff +1) with just about 30 minutes of training (which was fun to do!).
I guess there is a way to update his staff... will find out!
The needed corbum was made with the oven, I didn't find any in the food storage (checked the doors, thanks anyway!) or elsewhere on the upper levels.
Another monk staff I got from Vecna (didn't kill him), but still need a final one to activate the guilt leader.
What I wonder about:
Leif only has 266 stamina, while Halk has 748! Health only differs about 100. Levels are almost equal.
Thanks for the hint on Nabi, Parallax.
I couldn't resist and checked it out to see the shield... it fizzles! (any other spell works well)
Also I got a look on the guilt leader of course.
AARRGGGGH... the guilt leader is...
a smily everhappy dental grinface. I HATE M&%$§S!!!
He'll be arguing with Gothmog about philosophy, religion and politics all the time while beeing beaten up by an orc who could barely speak at all.
oh... well, I guess that means chosing Leyla as a fourth members.
playtime greetings

There is an oven around somewhere - each time you open a wizard door, you can use it once.
The priest puzzle - nothing to do with the mishievous bag. Think a very, very natural container. Usually houses something that, eventually, lives. If you still can't get it I will give you the actual answer next time!
