I was wondering if anyone was going to go back to this. I still have quite a few entries to HTMLify...! But it would be cool to keep it going... I've been busy on other things though..... :-D *Codex* wheeeeeeeeeee!

EDIT: Jeepers, that a monster set of additions! I have about 50 entries to do.......!

Been suffering:
"Thread fatigue" (having to jump around pages within the same thread to find out where you came from, and then where you're going)
"The Entropy Effect" (Too many options opened up, causing an overwhelming sense of it'll never advance)
"Extrasensory anticipation" (The feeling that you know that the original author knows what he/she wanted to write in the follow up options but your ESP ability fails you as to what they were inferring... Or what the hell I'm on about now tbh)

Will hopefully add a section soon 8)

No i get what you mean - I guess the skill with these sections is, if you write one, then don't be hung up on someone continuing your brilliant idea for the next part, and if you follow on from one, just make it individual as long as it doens't break the actual gamebook logic (too much)

The lift idea seems a cool idea to link the several differnt options, but then of course I had to add more sections to actually justify the lift mechanic - hence the acquisition of the items

Plus I wanted to reset the need for all the previous items, without removing their value - though of course they can still be available as options to those in the know who want some funny or different later options.

Anyway, onwards and downwards :D

Gambit, if you have the template I can do the legwork of putting them all in if you like, since you have important codex work to do!

I promise not to hog all the fun of those little graphical touches you add to them!

Cool, off we go again.
For 95 we have the Medicinal plants route and the Weapon-pointy plants route, Syra does her thing, then convergence I presume. Could be a monster, could be a trolin 'shitting in the woods', so to speak.

Perhaps we could start to inject a few ideas now for the showdown with the big dragon? Don't know how to go about this, but as a suggestion we could use:
> Add now items that deflect fireballs (4 sets of armour, Wooden shields, etc, etc). They would then break afterwards.
> We have 24 or less champions, kind of like 24 HP really :)
> Force the dragon to submission by tickling...
Just a few ideas, but I don't know how to go about the grand finale, and we should think about it now. I can remember using paper and dice for the Final Fantasy books, do we go that way?

Also when we get there, maybe someone could write the skeletal end sequence indicating in note form what they want filled in. Diff3r3nt from they way we're doing it now.

Thoughts?

Yeha, even if we don't carry on the tests idea I would assume pretty convergent path for a while!

Doens't have to be a showdown with the dragon fight wise, could be somethign funny and undercutting.

I don't think we need more items (after all, you have heroic weaposn and fireplate for a reason), I think some humourous uses of the items that are around and circumstances from earlier might be an idea - hence the tests idea.

Currently situation i can see is that gothmog might still be dehydrated (though there were enough opportunities to rehydrate him) as an incidental stumbling block

A test requiring a non-frazzled toothed mophus, and you get bonus points for uber-teeth

Perhaps ackonowledging you could have trolins in your party (when there was the 24 man pressure plate) who thump important fighters if you aren't careful

Perhaps having less champions does matter in the end too....

I like dragon tickling, we could use that somewhere - after all, the party might still have access to some of the stuff from the syra dungeon bit like tinsel and sheep :D

Hmmm, good idea. Substitute Trolins too, like that a lot.

Take care you don't get motion sickness in the lift section!

In the FF and LW books, the occasional picture thrown in a section helps to keep the whole thing 'fresh'. Good luck!

Cool! Did you use my HTML as a basis? As for pictures, I simply had the Encyclopedia open at the same time, and pasted in links to icons from there...

Yeah, no internet meant couldn't do that - but I saved one of your files as a source and worked from there, so allah willing there should be no problems if you upload them

Will get the piccies inserted where some seem to need them tonight. Ones liek the lift and trolin wife might benefit from a tweaked picture

Where do you source a picture from, that needs to have an elevator holding 24 weapon wielding goths?

Beo, if you completed the HTMLing, feel free to send it through and I'll upload it...

You're a star by the way. I kind of lost interest in continuing that once I found my renewed Codex motivation...

Another section up - although we will need to take account of stuff later on, it's still pretty free to add any section you like for the next one - the second dungeon trial! What could be worse than a compost heap monster? You tell us!

Woohoo, we're flying now. Loved your section 101 by the way - bad to read it at work really :D

Hey everyone, come on! You can jump in and make a section, we jsut need ideas for trials where a single champion, if present, can make a difference!

We seem to be doing quite well - so far, having the right champion and stuff from earlier means you can pass the test, though so far it also seems to affect that champion. Otherwise, you can pass the test, but you risk injuring or skeleonising or otherise losing your people.

I guess later on having able bodied people (to weild the special weapons/armour) or having non-skeketons could be important!

Perhaps we should rename the thread "The Fuzzface and Ian Scho Show"?

I haven't read any of it since around #50!

I've uploaded the entire story up #98 -- it's now hosted here, instead of my own site, so Beo, if you want to continue transcribing it, you can do so and upload. It's now here:

http://dmweb.free.fr/Stuff/interactivestory/

Let me know if you need/want FTP access. ;)

Just wondering if we should change the title as it's no longer Christmas or 2007 and this seems like the kind of thing that could go on for some time. I'm keen to write for it again at some point...
