Hi Zed, could you describe in a bit more detail about the problems you had in RTC when compiling the dungeon with custom bitmaps and wallsets? What sort of problems did you encounter, how many additional customs bitmaps and wallsets did you add in before you started noticing problems? Thanks!

Great, thanks.
Even from under a sea of posts you still somehow manage to get things done!

Evil. There are a couple of letters missing but it's there

That is sinister. You need all 3 of them, and you need to read them in the right order for it to even come close to making sense... nice work Zed!

Evil, sinister, it's worse.
Undertanding what' s hidden in the scrolls is quite useless.
"Elija the beggar" completed the game without getting the scrolls.

I don't understand what you mean by "the scroll's quite useless"...
How's is telling the player to "GO-WE ST-TROU GH-WAL" useless? (Go west, through wall... tells you where a hidden wall is, how's that useless?)

Because it is telling the player, something he most likely, already knows.
The room is very small, it is much easier to find the fake wall than to find a clue in the 3 scrolls

To be honest:
I firstly completed the game with Elija unaware of these three scrolls.
I was wondering about unresolved stuff so I made more investigations and tests with Elija.
Then I got the three scrolls at a place where there was no scroll before.
Scrolls so kryptic that I posted them on the forum, just for the fun. I thought that was a red herring.
At that time, I was NOT aware of some hidden clue inside.
Then Beowulf pointed to what was hidden in the scrolls.
Thanks to Beowulf, only then, I understood the three scrolls.

I believe that something was said earlier about the dungeon changing in randomized locations, perhaps that is one of them.

I think "dungeon survival" is not randomized.
It has options depending of which of the four caracters ( Elija Leif Halk Alex ) the player has chosen when entering the dungeon.
Playing with Elija, the three scrolls appreared because I solved a puzzle.

I completed the game four times with,
Elija the beggar,
Leif the poet,
Alex the thief,
Halk the savage.
I firstly thought, oh well ! Another
too hard dungeon.
After a while, I liked it. I enjoyed replays to find everything hidden in the dungeon.
Buuuut.
I am not sure it makes sense to achieve survival with "saves restarts".
You know what I mean.
You must kill a tough monster:
_Save, Hit,
_if you are dead then restart,
_if the monster registered damage then save
_repeat Hit, etc.....until the monster is dead.
is this fun ?
I tried "dungeon survival 2" so far I met about only that. Save, Hit, Restart/Save, again, again and again....
is this fun when there is not much more than that in a dungeon ?

I believe that I know what you're talking about, and I have to admit that it's a small part of the original DM dungeon... but, given the difficulty of this dungeon, it'd become commonplace.
Now, that could become a very repetitive problem. I don't believe that it's "fun" when you have to keep saving/smacking a monster all the time
It seems to be a common theme of Zed's to make dungeons that are very difficult to finish, and he plans on keeping it that way... I guess that's just the way he designs things.

Problem is that when you try to play compiled dungeon it dont appear in list, you see name of folder and nothing there, like it wasnt compiled. This is major problem which stop me, otherwise I would for sure extend Ravenhood to part 4. Probably problem lay in amount or overall size of all custom files together, am not sure but I can tell that it is literally thousand custom files add there (really, am count it once)
Ok so then am back to DM1 style and focus only on gameplay details. One of interesting feature of DM is this survival part (food water light poison etc) which dont appear in many other games such as Grimrock for instance, or its simplified. Am mostly tried to extend that and also make alternate ways trough game. Difficulty issue need to be understand correctly, choosing fighter class generate more enemies and choose mage class generate more puzzles in dungeon (DS1) It was way to balance game, fighter class dont need to solve so much puzzles but that would be too easy for him so I throw against him more fight challenges.
BTW since I have new computer I dont visit this forum, am played all these high requirements new games, but must say that am miss about classic RPGs like DM (so who known, maybe DS3?
heh no am not announce any new projects right now)

This is soooooooooo true! I regularly play other games just to "get away from my current problem" and come back to it later

That does look strange, Zed. But I play DSB in a window (with a native resolution of 1280x1024), so I'm used to the small screen. Is that RTC? What made it go that small?

That was sort of my fault, sorry.
As it's off-topic, please continue any fullscreen discussions on one of these threads:
(Note that you should be able to force RTC to scale to fullscreen using your AMD/nVidia graphics card control panel)
