spider level - orckind, trollkind, elfkind. what do i do here? also i have no idea what to do with the other statue riddles throughout the level. do each of them refer to an object i have to put on them? im glad to say im powerful enough now to walk over the spiders so i dont dread the spider level any more! lol
there was also a FUL statue that started a chain of hazes which i tried following but kept getting stopped by my little 8-legged friends :(
oh, and ive found the experimental kitchen!!! wahey!!!
and nearly forgot - beware fireworks on the dwarven level - ive opened the push-button door and got the torch (is that it??) and there's some great rock monster through the opposite door. how do i open this?

Yes, touch an item to the statue and it mutates to a reward if correct. As a starting point
Spoiler
orckin - wooden club
The FUL statue is indeed lighting the way towards something, if you can perhaps clear the way first and work out any triggers you might be standing on, and dance around them, you can find a little secret area. I forget if the reward is worth it...and the reward might have changed since

I'm having trouble with a couple of riddles in the Relicuary. The "Feed me with anger", "Take from me I am bigger, give me I am fulfilled." and "Send me a rusty, bleeding dagger." riddles all have me stumped. I understand how to make a dagger rusty, but bleeding as well? I've spammed the first two riddles with lots of items but none have worked yet and I can't think of anything that might fit that I haven't tried.

Also, where is the portrait window where you are supposed to activate LOR? I can't find it.

Deathtrap Dungeon. What's up with this place? It creases me over and over. I keep getting stuck all the time and I currently have no idea what to do to progress. Some cool stuff here though, and random. I don't know what to do at the cold corridor littered with corpses.

It's not what, it's where.
Spoiler
Do not think of an item solving the riddle (any item will do), think of a location.
Antman wrote:"Send me a rusty, bleeding dagger."
I don't think this is a riddle, but simply instructions. I guess the dagger would get bloody if you use it to attack something, but I hate

As for "feed me with anger", the question has been asked several times but I have never seen it answered.

Or it could be a vampyric dagger?

And feed me with anger - I forget, is fury still available?

Edit: It must be, it belongs to balrog, doesn't it?

Had some time to play Conflux again. :-)
(But havn't given the new buxfix a try *shame on me*)

I'd like to mention strange (and wonderful) things that happend to me on my journey:
Spoiler
So far, I've seen 3 endings (council, Gothmog, Powergem, close to kill the steel beast) and I still discover so many hidden secrets (BTW: never heard of anything you all mentioned above, so there must be plenty left). A friend of mine plays it too, and even though he just roams the sewers+Mines right now, he has discovered the knights lair, while I havn't(?). Also he discovered that the boulders in the Mines can be moved...
and guess what: today I finally got the substitute for the ZO spell (whats that pixel on the wall? click..), discovering it isn't even a locked spell. I wonder what leftover doors can be opened using it... maybe even get around that invincible scorpion (trapped him between the 2 doors and hacked him for half an hour. I wondered I didn't gain any levels, must be a low multiplier down there).

As I added mophus to my party and started training him in the sewers, a knight appeared ("whats that stepping sound, can't be a chewer... wohaaa...") and as smileface was standing in front he got killed. The other chars had their revenge and discovered a piece of armor belonging to saint mophus. Well, lets reload then and prepare to kill the knight, right? Nope, even after a long time exploring the level (and training Mophus) he didn't appear again. Lateron I found the knights remains (!) in the spiders lair, close to the L Fountain.

At the beginning of my solorun (to get 3 leaders) and after killing lots of trollins, the entrance hall was littered with clubs that seemingly got teleported from the sewers. I thought it was a bug, but not much later I found a pile of (cursed) maces and plate armor in the spiders lair, that made me thing of kinda 'bonus' given for the solorun. Much much lateron after using the powergem I dropped down a pit in the crypt into a teleporter room never seen before and found a similar pile of maces/plates, this time also the leftover helmet for Halk was included, completing the armorset.
These were the moments I was looking for a hidden mistery.dat in the Conflux folder...

T0Mi

P.S.
A big thanks to all those who corrected my spelling/grammer/faults in the FAQ. I hope I'll find the time to add some more questions in the near future.

The Fury doesn't work for the feed me with anger riddle; I don't think it has that name any more either. From what I remember, I've tested all items (except a handful of keys) that can be found in a basic game and with Leyla. Nothing has worked.
I've made a rusty vampiric dagger, but that didn't seem to do anything special at the "send a rusty bleeding dagger" area either.

Cool! Cheers guys, have done all the guild endings now, although I found that riddle awfully ambiguous. But I've forgotten where the funeral axe is and haven't found it in my new game, have everything else though, can anyone remember where it is? I found it in my last game.

Also just discovered i mismapped part of the stairs heading up from the big hell area, which has put all my maps of the deathtrap dungeon out :(

The only mysteries I personally don't know are the two water level riddles and where LOR's picture frame is supposed to be, aside from things in the deathtrap dungeon of course. And the "feed me with anger" is a communal mystery.

Oh yeah, boulders can be moved...? Didn't know that either.

I thought it was with balin

And the portrait of lor is in the normal crypt area, where you pull his bones from. You just need to activate that portrait with a special item. The picture won't be revealed I don't think

beo is right antman. If you need x y coords,
look at the map on the dmwiki (forgot which lv)
and it should be at the unique item's page as well!

True, I can't believe I missed that. Thats a useful page on the wiki though, will add some stuff later.

Just finished adding a whole lot of stuff to the unique item wiki page, must have missed a few items somewhere though.

I haven't got the the other three pieces of hell armour, head, and legs because I had already sacrificed them in my game. Can't think of anything else though, except maybe the powergems.

ok, 'save the slaves', wtf am i supposed to do? im getting peed off with it now!? i take it ive got to somehow navigate the vexirks through the hazes towards me while protecting them from fireballs. no matter what i do with the switches they still get blasted.

Posted: Sat Apr 05, 2008 10:29 am
by beowuuf
It's a tricky one, and unless zyx has uped the reward not worth it. As you say, you have to save the vexirks fro mthe fireballs by hitting the right buttons at the right times. I have never done it perosnally, only a bug where monsters seeped out of the canteen ever let me get across to see the rewards!

what do i do with the three stinking dirty bits of paper? edit: just realised ive been sniffing toilet paper!!!
found the big grey dragon thing with the red runes (as i follow the pit D down) - is this thing possible to kill? also, who is the grey-cloaked figure above with the red eyes? he was a stone pillar until i pressed a blue button. also the garden of nostalgia - i cant believe i got my ass kicked in here - what am i supposed to do?

I would like to know the item stats
for weapons and armour in conflux 3.
like dm & csb items on the encycl.

Probably ZYX could provide a list for the dmwiki?

Any hints?

Is the Lousy T-Shirt any good?
What's better
the elven mail or the mithral mail??
weapons could get tricky, because of difference
in undead and living monsters..
Should I use a Katana or the Axe for worms?
I hope there are no complicated level multipliers
. could get messy to tell..

Posted: Sun Apr 06, 2008 9:20 am
by beowuuf
I'm sure zyx is too far removed to instantly do that from memory - but you can get them yourself by putting the graphics file into ADGE and seeing them, can't you?

Obviously hidden multipliers are back to zyx afterwards, with rough indications by the players

Posted: Sun Apr 06, 2008 11:24 am

Then we could probably produce such a list.
I will check it out..

A list of item stats?

You have to be a little sceptical of
any such numbers. Conflux is more
complicated. A particular weapon
in the hands of a particular
champion against a particular
monster could very well be handled
differently, thanks to the Party Attack
Filter. I don't know this to be true but
it is the kind of thing Zyx seems to do.

Oh, wait, unless 'death water' is the answer to the thirsty/death riddle beside mampang - in which case, the answer is something else :)

at least for the standard items, like armor/clothing
such a list would make still some sense, not?

I have found out that elven aketons are better
than mithral aketons...I was in doubt, because
they weigh less, and weight being always an indicator
for better armor.

When in doubt which item is better , ask your
local ADGE!

Taking into consideration that you only find
elven aketon late in the game, and only
?2? sets, that kind of proves ADGE's values maybe.

I don't know. I thought it would be a good
idea, but probably not worth the effort... :?

I can't tell you out of memories which ones are ther best weapons and armors, besides with the current unreleased version, things have changed and are multifactorial.
Anyway, the graphics.dat is not encrypted, so you can use the adge.

As for the baby worms, I'm very sorry but I discovered the mechanism was broken and it will only be fixed for the next release.

uh oh

Some weird things are happening. God I hope I don't need to restart.

I'm playing with the maleficient guild. They are all now [] and = masters now. Their base strength scores ranged from 19 to 22. But when I looked at my party's base stats, the two in front are now 6 strength points higher than what they should be! Stranger still is that they now have the same strength stat when they did not before. These two are carrying the heaviest arms and armour and are also serving as my party's packmules. To do this, I "potioned" them up to superhuman stats.

Is it possible to gain strength points by some method?

Also should seemingly random piles of stuff be appearing on the council level?

Could you send me a savegame? If possible, in front of one of the random piles.

Hey ya all!

Greetings from Malaysia. Firstly, I'd like to introduce myself. I'm Jesse from Cyberjaya, Malaysia and apparently have found the closest approximation to heaven that I have seen. I did not actually realize that there was a forum on one of my favorite games of "olde" and more importantly, that there the presence of custom dungeons done up in such a professional way!

I am very thankful for being able to get in and post something as I have had pent up remarks for the past week or so due to the darned firewalls and Yahoo filtering on my mailbox (thanks and sorry for the trouble Matt :()

Firstly, cheers goes to Zyx who's kept me at a healthy dose of Dungeon Master 15 hours a day for the past 5 off-days that I've had. I dare say it is by far the most complex thing I have played since touching CSB a long, long time ago. Even then, I already had problems mapping the place but enjoyed the pride and joy that comes with conquering the game (or so I think heh..) back when I was 15. In fact, I loved the Dungeon Master series so much that I kept replaying the dungeons over and over till I moved on with life and college when I was 18.

Never really gave up on my dream to go back to the good old dungeon crawling games once in a while. This place is definitely heaven by comparison. Shame they don't make games like that anymore since then. I understand that they tried to make DM-ish clones out of games like Ravenloft I and II and Menzoberranzan, but sometimes these games just don't quite cut it in terms of being the original, along with the feel and the amazing level of "interactiveness" for something spawned out of the 80s-90s?

Anyways, we're not here to listen to me reminisce about old times. We're here to conquer new maps! I've been doing some studying on the forums for some days now, and I first and foremost would like to send my greets out to the likes of Paul Stevens, Beowuuf, Antman, Joramund, Inanity, zoom and Parallax (as well as the many others I've missed and not had a chance to read and learn from in detail).

Moving on, I would also like to ask if there's any house rules in this forum to establish? Firstly, out of respect for all of Zyx's hard work, I am going to avoid any direct spoilers when helping others. In the true spirit of gaming, I'm going to call on my experience as a DM in my own tabletop RPGs to confound others further. Heh...

However, that being said, I think I've finally reached a point where I can officially call myself stuck in Conflux. Some of them are probably technically inclined and would require clarification from the boss man himself, but apologies in advance to all of you if they have been answered before but I have missed it.

So here goes:

1. How do you apply the spoiler tag to censor the answers or hints to fellow players? Just treat me like a complete web newbie! :?

2. I want to take up the Maleficient guild challenge on my next run! Show me how to set up the team of 4!

3. Are the guild leader's event tags attached to the leaders' having the items on their body, or wielding it?

4. How or where should I go in order to trigger the final quests for the guild leaders, with the exception of Halk (for whom I have seen tons of frustrated thread remarks heh~) ? Or rather, in plain English, how do I "start" them?

5. Which creatures are blatantly invulnerable in Conflux III: Bugfix 4? 8) Although, do kindly tell me only the ones that won't serve as a spoiler or "surprise". I do have a list of my own, but I cannot post them on here without first learning the spoiler "censorship tag" to be polite to others.

6. Can someone run by me how we prevent the stairway access lock-up problem again after offing the Dark Councillor through non-combat means? (some of you would get what I mean, because I believe it has been discussed before). I would really hate to bug Zyx to alter and erase that bug of a pit again... (sorry Zyx :() especially after restarting with a new party each time.

7. Is there a list I could refer to for all of the unique items and creatures found? I'm quite the collector you see... doesn't have to include spoiler-like qualities and hidden effects though... just want to tick them off as I get them. Any list that I can help contribute to would be nice as well?

8. I understand that some of you guys are actually having a Wiki site on the game. Is that closed access for admin only or are registered members of the forum allowed to peruse through the locked pages too?

9. Don't you think that so many of us versus just Zyx alone is kinda mean? Maybe we should take it easy on him eh? (I'm expecting a lot of scoffing and flaming for this... haha, bring it on!)

Well, I'd best end it here before everyone complains about the length. Thank you sooooo much all for putting up with me. I bid you all the best and to stay in good health and not overdose on the Snapdragons!

Till next we meet folks! :D
Cheers from Malaysia
Jesse

Thanks Paul!

That was a remarkably fast reply! Well, I'll definitely be looking around that Wiki page if you don't mind (^_^) Thanks for having me around :D. As for editing, I might not want to muck up any content just yet since I'm only accessing the game from a purely player's point of view and probably don't have accurate definition of things eh?

Jesse

Edit: I've just returned from the Wiki pages and actually taken some history lessons. I believe I owe you, Paul, and Zyx and apology for not having taken notice and appreciated the backstory much, much earlier. Things have not only become a lot clearer in terms of motivation, but also does help in appreciating the overall storyline!

On a separate note, it still doesn't explain how I can obtain all 4 Maleficient members agh~ Can anyone help?
