To george - which suggestions are you concidering?

To george - which suggestions are you concidering?

Post by beowuuf »

I was just interested (I'm getting very firm ideas for RTC levels now) which suggestions you were concidering implementing, and also which you would not ever think of doing.
Was unable to (permenantly) kill off ian_scho (Haynuus), Ameena, oh_brother (Westian), money (Falkor), raixel (Petal) and Lord_Bones (Aurek) in the DM D&D game Time's Champions!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE WHO MADE THE GAME WHAT IT WAS - GREAT!

Oooh, difficult question. The quick answer is all those that remain within the spirit of DM. I've been looking at each posting as it comes but will go through and build up a more detailed list when I finish implementing the RTC core (not long now!).

I beg, beseach, and emplore you!!!

Please add in the auto drop function. I'll explain how it works again.

you have an item in the mouse hand you you left click over the stats bars of the character you want to hold it. *If* the character has a free cubby then it drops it in the first available one, (pouches, scabard, and body locations are not included only the *backpack* area!) if not the object stays in hand. The character screen doesn't come up at all during this. However if you right click with object in hand the character screen comes up and you can place it where you like.

This is analagous (sp?) to quickly shoving something into your bag without looking at what you are doing. So it is possible to do and makes sense. This also *IS* in the spirit of DM because it was a function in dungeon master 2 it may have been in a later version of CSB as well but not sure.

The main use for this is to speed up the redundant tasks like retrieving a dead heros stuff? you currently have to jump in and out of the characters inv. with each and every item. it's also good for when you are being eaten by worms(or something else) and someone dies and you want to grab their bones and maybe a shirt or a weapon before you die..

again I say.. please please please!!! :)

dead hero's posessions?

Post by Rick »

While i think of it, maybe a dead character would have to be much more manageable.

Like "pick linflas CORPSE". When you take him, all the weight gets divided into the party (which would make the party A WHOLE LOT slower, of course you can't put the corpse anywhere - maybe a large chest? hmmm... :P
Anyway it seems quite unreal to me that when the guy's dead he automatically loses all flesh, blood, skin and muscles, and only his bones are left. And of course, his inventory is scattered (to the player's discomfort) on the floor.

What about replacing the VI altars with a champion mirror? When you click on it, you get all your dead characters (provided you still have the corpse at hand) with all his (their) inventory back.

it's pretty unrealistic for a monster to go poof into smoke and drop perfect objects like evenly portioned slices of screamer or worm.. or a cooked rat leg that is a fair bit smaller than the rat that left it behind.. but hey..

Somethings you just have to leave some things to the unexplained forces of magic. After all these charcaters we recreated from magic just as the monsters were created out of nothing.. so a puff of smoke and your buddy is a pile of bones seems just as likley as a puff of smoke and club is left after a blue meany.

I don't think removing altars for mirrors makes any sense.. The mirrors were merely the mothod of encasing the spirit of the character so unless you were returning to the mirror he/she came from then it doesn't quite fit..

That.. and it wouldn't be very 'DM' anymore now would it? Altars are a big part of DM why get rid of them?

I think that as well as altars there should be some sort of spell, maybe only available as a scroll or as a function of a special weapon that brings the character back to live, like the "raise dead" spell in EOB. <p><font face=arial>Ian

i never used altars in Dm, because they decrease the max amout of max hit points.
the corpse problem could be handled this way (like in d2):
you pick up the bones, and all the stuff the char had is in the corpse, then you return him to life and he has all his stuff back...EDIT: why is this idea stupid? - the char may have an important object (like a key) in his backpack, and this blocks your way back..
so, thinking about his idea, the pick-up-way of DM2 is the best one, id say, like proposed before :)

Yep

Never below 25, and only a fraction of your health is lost each time

I actually tried to kill someone with regeneration one time years ago, but couldn't cause of the floor value for health

You've been checking out the hex code for CSB, is there no part for this action?
