Icons needed

Post by PeyloW »

Hi.

Is there someone that is good at drawing icons. Most normal object have "Icon" images already usefull for showing stuff in the editor but lots of thing (eg everything you cant have equipped) do not have icons to show up.

So if someone have the time I would like to have Icons for all the monsters, doors, fountain, puddles and such. As well as nice icons for "object groups".

As the editor works now the user selects an "object group" from a combo box and the toolbox then changes acordingly to show icons for objects in that group.

Food is for example a group and apple is a specific object. Apple already has an icon "Food" does not.

Giant Wasp is a specific object (No icon yet) in the "Monster" (No icon yet) group... I think you get th idea.

I could do it but sadly I don't have the time - too many other things on the go.

This made me think about something though. How complicated would it be to create a DM inspired interface to the editor? By that, I mean why not use the same drag and drop mentality? It would be cool to have visual lists of objects, monsters, etc, and you simply drag the necessary things you want onto the map. Then you can edit them by right-clicking or something.

Probably way too complex, and a bit 'out there', but just a thought... :)

I started a wireframe based program long ago (On a TRS-80!) and had a WYSIWYG interface. After seeing Chaos building CSB in the Intro, how about...

Add a bunch a spells that only work in wizard'editor mode. E.g., change next square to a door/floor/pit/etc; change graphic to the next selection, open edit screen for object in hand, etc.

The editor and programe are completely seperate entities, i think this in game editor idea would have had to have been built into it from the start

And sorry, i have the artistic temperment of...well, of soemthing not artistic : (
Was unable to (permenantly) kill off ian_scho (Haynuus), Ameena, oh_brother (Westian), money (Falkor), raixel (Petal) and Lord_Bones (Aurek) in the DM D&D game Time's Champions!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE WHO MADE THE GAME WHAT IT WAS - GREAT!

hmm well if you give me the layout of the program as you are using it now.. I would be willing to devote some free time to making it look nicer. I would also make some icons for generic categories like Monster, scroll, chest, weapon, wall, etc.. to get too specific would be useless since each person would likley develop their own look for things and or their own monsters. clicking an ADD MOSNTER button with an Icon on it though which would then let you choose a monsters name (text only) would make more sense.

You said you were in no major rush to complete which is good because as many people here know.. I'm pretty busy but I try and get things done over time. However the less you need the easier it is for me to get it done quickly. If only for my love of Dungeon master.
