Even with grey coloured weight is party movement too slow, IMHO between yellow and red in the original DM

Movement rate

The reason why the movement is slower is because it's designed that way (and nothing to do with your machines!).

The movement rate is tied to the speed of objects as they fly through the air. You can make one step every time an object moves 2 units (i.e a whole tile). In this way you can't walk into a flying object (as in DM), at best you can just keep up with it. I don'r really see how the party movement rate can be too slow but the fireballs (and other objects) too fast (see posts below).

Hmmm - any suggestions?

What to do with speed - my idea

I think this is following solution:
-if flying item (the lightest, like arrows and small rocks) gains average speed 4 tiles per second (it means 8 moves), the heaviest items (like chests, plate armor etc.) could have average speed on for example 3/4 of lightest item speed (in my sample 3 tiles/second) and the fastest party (all members with grey weight status) should be fast 1/2 as fastest item, like 2 tiles per second.
So I think first will be good to make some relations between items, spells and party movement.
Second will be good to say, how fast should be grey weight status'ed party (how many tiles it could move in one second) and next will be good to calculate speeds of all others (yellow and red status'ed party, items, spells). Maybe you can put it in preferences, because current movement is really very slow.

Ermm... it IS possible to walk into your own thrown objects in DM - I#ve walked into arrows before, and have certainly fried my party on more than one occasion by running forwards into a fireball.

I think that the movement is now waaaaaaaaaaaayyy to slow to represent the speed of DM and it doesn't feel right at all.
