test results

Post by cowsmanaut »

I did this once already but it didn't show up.. trying again..

took some time to complete a test of the food depletion in DM.

Test subjects
all 4 were given stats of 10 in every slot all skills were dropped to none and food and water was raised to full.

test 1
ch1 Health was dropped to 1 of 10
ch2 Stamina was dropped to 1 of 10
ch3 Mana was dropped to 1 of 10
ch4 was left at 10 of 10

Put characters to sleep
at 15sec ch2 was at full STM
at30sec ch1 was at full HP
at 1 min ch3 was at full Mp

Characters are woken at this point to find all of them at the same food and water levels

characters put back to sleep and left alone

after 7mins characters all had approx half Food and 3/4s Water.. test end.

Test 2

Characters were run for 14mins only stoping when stamina droped too low. Stamina dropped 1 point every 20steps.

After 14mins characters food at approx 1/2 and water at 3/4s
end test.

I'm not sure how usefull this is but further testing could be done.

2 possible other tests would be as follows

Same test subjects (ie. all stats set to 10)
1. battle a door for 14 mins
2. cast spells for 14 mins
recovery time is included in the 14mins.

Anybody want to do Those two?

Cheers

Hmm, a control one where charcters just stand around doing nothing for 14 mins seems to be needed. How much difference does processor speed/operating system make? I've seen too fast games of DM on certain systems, so having someone else do the tests is a bit dubious.

Eh, I have a 400Mhz Celeron, 128Mb RAM, Win 98SE, I can't imagine graphics card making a difference for a dos 2D game, tell me the subjects and I'll try that

My own test was to trun an RTC party (level 0 difficulty) non-stop until the characters food reached the yellow - the party was run on full, no stops for stamina drop (poor wuuf...) spells cast for the back characters too. The right hand two dropped to yellow level of food one grade before the left because I was testing out thumping the right hand wall a few times, but otherwise levels were the same, I then ran the same party doing the same things (within reason) until I reqched the same area.

It took 11 mins to run the RTC party to that level (the screamer room after none shall pass) while it took the same DM party 7 -8 mins. The RTC party had also 1/2 water. The DM party had varying levels of food, with the most common (stamm and boris) on 3/4, water the same, halk and wuuf on the same water but food one level below and above respectively.
Was unable to (permenantly) kill off ian_scho (Haynuus), Ameena, oh_brother (Westian), money (Falkor), raixel (Petal) and Lord_Bones (Aurek) in the DM D&D game Time's Champions!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE WHO MADE THE GAME WHAT IT WAS - GREAT!

well, it was done with DM

I did the tests with dos DM the 'real' one.. it's meant to be for refference for RTC.. so if you do any tests it should be with that.

The speed of your PC should not make ANY difference at all.. it ran on a 286.. it's not gonna go faster than it should either so don't worry..
