Berzerk recovery time too fast?

Berzerk recovery time too fast?

Post by Lubor Kolar »

It seems that berzerk recovery time is equal to melee recovery time. AFAIR in CSB was berzerk recovery time much longer than melee recovery time.

Well, but there were many things that were slower in FTL than in RTC, including the speed of monsters. I always found the recovery times a bit too long in FTL, they didn't seem to be realistic, and I like this in RTC the way it is now. Especially at higher difficulty with fast moving and striking monsters and short recovery times for close combat, battles are full of action. I hope this will stay the way it is now.

Ahm, besides: Berzerk has also been doing more damage in FTL. Just in case: if the recovery times should be increased for some reason in RTC, then the damage would have to be increased also. But as I said, I'd prefer not to change either in RTC.

I agree to both your comments. I looked at the CSB for Win ASCII dump (very useful because it contains internal value tables for monsters/items) and I found that berzerk delay is little bit more than twice delay for melee and base damage is slightly below twice than melee.
Looking at and using values from these tables could make RTC to feel much more DM.

Too bad. Higher damage is ok, but as I said, I would have prefered the recovery time to stay as it was in RTC before because it adds to the action part of the game.

Actually what I've done is to speed up the recovery of melee by a about 20%, and slow down bezerk by about 20%. This gives a larger gap between the two, but each one doesn't change by all that much to keep the feel roughly the same.
