there is supposed to be one for the Amiga DM that when you are about to kill the dragon you pause the game and type "Lord libiraslus smites thee down" or something like that and the dragon dies leaving a fire staff.. I never tried it but but who knows.. there is also a cloning object trick that had something to do with the flux cage and a pit.. you put a flux cage over a pit and then throw objects down the pit and they are supposed to duplicate.. never tried this one either..
I just noticed these rumours over the years keep cropping up again and again.
Really though why bother with cheats? After all if you really want to cheat, just use DMUTE
cheers

Re: Re: Cheats
The first that you speak of was an April Fool's joke, and there's information on the main part of this site about it. Got to the main board, and search through the vault:
http://freespace.virgin.net/daniel.durgan/
The second that you speak of was a bug, and would normally crash the game if you tried it, so it's not recommended - it's not really considered a 'cheat'.

Re: Re: Re: Cheats
the second part of the cheat DOES work but with the Amiga version 2.0 of dm only! on the level where you enter a room full of pits , some moving and some that open when you step in certain spots.
well do a flux cage and DON'T drop down the pit yourself cause the game will crash but use a rope to go down a pit thats next to it. now put ANY object you want inside the pit and evertime you go to pick it up it will duplicate itself as many times as you like! if you walk thru the pit it will crash the game unfortunately
they took this bug out in version 2.1 or 2.2 onwards..

DM cheat fraud
Really? I wonder how it lasted so long as a rumour if it's a fake? I never tried but I heard several people say it did work but only with a certain version. The first that you speak of was an April Fool's joke, and there's information on the main part of this site about it.
oh well..

Re: DM cheat fraud
It lasted so long, mainly because the people posting these kinds of cheats never check the validity of them. Then one site steals the cheat from another, and passes it on, and on, and presto! It's all over the 'net and it's not even true. This is why it's worth remembering not to believe 100% everything you read, see or hear, especially on the 'net.
Re: Re: Cheats
I have No desire to Cheat my way through this. I've finished It countless times, just curiosity I guess.
Re: DM cheat fraud
the first cheat was indeed a fake! - the kill the dragon etc.. - it was only for the Atari version of Chaos Strikes Back spread by a well known Atari computer mag at the time.. think it was St Format..
