I also have a soundblaster live that I have been unable to get to work, which kinda sucks because a lot of the puzzles are a lot easier if you can hear what happens when you press a button.

Things I have tried: running it in windows with "prevent from detecting windows" both checked and unchecked(works with no sound, doesn't run with pc speaker. Sound blaster and adlib which are the available options will let me run but either have no sound or the sound is just wrong (ie funky) and the doors and anything that does sound moves really slowly) running in dos mode without himem or emm386 (soundmodule doesn't even load) with himem and emm386 running then i get the same results as in windows.

My SBlive works well with DM2. Haven't tried it with DM. The reason I bought a SBlive was because my built in audio wouldn't work with DM2.

Before you try to run the proggy, run the test of SBlive experience. Make sure you can hear all of the midis and waves. I originally couldn't because my system was set to use my old configuration. (SBlive doesn't reconfigure your system properly on installation). Then, boot to DOS, and run the SETUP program. Choose autodetect. Then test both digital and wave sounds. It should work!!

On a side note, can anyone tell me how I'm supposed to shop in DM2? I got the game from the net, but can't find a manual anywhere. So paying for things is quite confusing....

first choose what you are buying in the window then go to the table on the left, wait until he puts the item on the table (if there is an x over it in the window then he doesn't have it). Then put down how much you wanna pay for it. The price he is asking is above it in the window, if you offer enough he will nod his head, if not he will shake it. If you givee more than he is asking you will get change.
The amount he pays for the items is below the picture in the window. To sell stuff go to the table on the right and put it on the table, if the merchant buys that item he will put down what he pays for it on the table.
